Branch 2 - Takeru's dad is dying and regrets the things he did

Atsushi Kinomoto was full of guilt and remorse. Today is the day his eldest son Takeru will be released from Prison after serving the maximum sentence.

Atsushi regretted the things he did and how he treated everyone. He only married his first wife Tsukina for money. She was a very kind woman but he kept hurting her mentally throughout their marriage. He belittled and humiliated his son Takeru out of his own insecurities. When his wife died, he impregnated his son's best friend even though he knew Takeru loved her.

"I deserve to burn in hell." Atsushi was dying from leukemia. He had less than six months left. He wanted to atone for his terrible sins and make it up to his son as much he could. Atsushi wanted to make amends even if Takeru never forgave him.

There was a knock on the door. Atsushi felt hopeful his son had finally come home. But instead it was his wife Misa.

"Takeru said he won't come back," Misa said sadly.

"Can you blame him after what we did to him?" Atsushi said making Misa cringe. Ten years ago they had gotten drunk together and had sex for the first time.

Misa later lied to Takeru out of shame and claimed Atsushi **** her but the truth was they were both equally drunk. She has regretted that lie ever since.

Atsushi asked. "You still love him don't you?"

"Yes I do. I have loved him since the day we met and I will keep loving him no matter how much he hates me." Misa cried.

"We have to make it up to him." Atsushi knew his son would never forgive him but he still wanted to try.
