“Well first, because I’m here, I feel obligated to flirt with Glynda,” Piper says. “And then after she shoots me down, we go somewhere quieter, have another drink, and make fun of Flynn.”

“There’s no way. There’s just no way,” Bella says, prodding Piper’s shoulder.

Piper turns to see Flynn and Kayla leaving the bar together.

“Damn, I’m good,” Piper says.

Kylie bristles. “Are you? Because you, of all people, were just talking about flirting with a married woman.”

Piper critically examines her hair, which needs attention after that pitcher water. “I don’t think I’m the first person to look at Glynda’s boobs and ask the age-old question, which I think was first posed by Aristotle, by the way: can Irina handle all that?”

Ying cringes.

Kylie points. “You’re probably right. But most people have the sense not to say it in front of her.”

Piper turns to find Irina on the other side of the bar.

“Oh, hi. I meant that in the most respectful way possible,” Piper assures her.

Irina just walks away.

“Hey, at least I’m not after your daughters,” Piper calls after her. Like some people. Where did Meghan get to with Sasha?

“What are you doing, Piper?” Bella asks suspiciously.

“Why do I have to be doing anything?”

“You’re always doing something.”

Piper sighs prettily. “Ines is out of town, and everyone’s getting laid but me. At this rate, I’ll have to settle for a hate fuck in the bathroom with crocodile tears Dundee over here,” Piper says, smiling at Kylie.

Ying narrows her eyes. “She’s baiting you, Kylie.”

“I know,” Kylie grinds out.

Piper sighs. “Well, I thought Bella would call me out for being a jerk, which would get her points with you, but she’s not picking up on it, so…” Piper waves a hand and sighs. “Never mind, I guess.”

“I’m sorry. I wasn’t picking up on that at all,” Bella says. “Piper, I love you, but have you ever tried not being an evil mastermind all the time?”

Kylie looks murderous. “What kind of fucked up shit happened to you as a child to make you look at being a Disney villain as aspirational?”

“Well, my first crush was the sexy fox Robin Hood,” Piper says defensively. “He’s kind of a scoundrel, you know?”

Kylie balks. “From Zootopia?”

“No! From Robin Hood. You know. Oh-de-lally, oh-de-lally? Robin Hood? With the hot fox and the good songs and the super abusive bear guy always **** out his snake boyfriend?” They look blank. Piper shakes her head and takes a drink. “Y’all have no culture.”

Kylie doesn’t reply to that. She turns instead to Bella. “Bella, you did what we asked. I feel shitty about it, but in the end, the shelter will get money, and we know you’re sweet. I’ll speak to Leni. But if you mean it, that means participating.”

“I’ll come to everything,” Bella promises. “I’m gonna try. Really.” She’s so earnest that it makes Piper feel a twinge of guilt.

“Start with game night. Tonight. OK? You’ll be late, but it’s fine.”

“OK. Sure.” Bella hates bars. She’d rather play games with strangers.

She looks uncertainly at Piper, who avoids looking at Kylie. Game night sounds fun, but there’s still no sign of Meghan and Sasha. Piper chews her lip.
