Better than okay - DING!

As you lie in the dust, nursing your wounds (pretty sure you've broken a few somethings), you're bitterly prepared for the inevitable swirling black, the 'YOU DIED' message and the respawn, only to do this all over again with the next 'hero'.

What you certainly weren't prepared for was the sudden feeling of great health, and hearing the dreaded DING! sound of someone levelling up. This indicated that some so-called 'hero' has levelled up, regained full health and is looking for more slaying to do. When nothing happened (like a dagger through the skull), then nothing continued to happen, you cautiously opened your eyes to see two pop-ups floating mid-air in front of you. You've certainly seen pop-ups before, but they all just indicated the damage you took, the (pitiful) damage you dealt or the **** message. This was new.

Wut?

You're a mook. You weren't supposed to level up. Did this have something to do with your sudden self-awareness? Something must have gone wrong, a glitch, some mistake in the code.

Possibilities.

If you could level up, then you could become more powerful. You could be a goblin king, or get **** on the 'heroes', or...

Mind abuzz with the possibilities, you look back at the cart. It looks like the candle ended up under the rogue's seat, sending his corpse sailing off to the side and freeing the horse, which has run off somewhere down the road, leaving its load behind.

So, you were like the 'heroes' now, what would they do?

Oh yeah, loot.

Someone will be along soon, drawn by the noise or the column of smoke, so you quickly jump onto the cart, and search the mess left in the aftermath of the explosion. You grab a sack and fill it with whatever you can. The surviving bottles, jars and boxes all went in. You dashed out and hid the sack somewhere off into the forest. Running back, you grabbed a cabinet of equipment - it looked kinda expensive. You finally ran back and gave the place a look over for anything you missed. About to leave, you notice a floorboard damaged by the explosion with some sort of hollow underneath. Prising it up, you find a small intricate silver box, which you pocket.

Finally, you loot the rogue's corpse, gaining 10 gold, a good quality dagger and a nifty pair of black boots. You think the cloak may have been magical, looking at its quality, but the explosion destroyed it.

You run off with your gear hidden in the forest, and consider that level-up...
