Best Friends

Your mouth hangs open. The app had stabbed you straight through your heart without an ounce of remorse. You try to think of what that means through the heartache.

This group of roommates had sort of come in a series of half measures. Rebecca was first, asking Sephora, who shared her major, if she wanted to be her roommate. Reliable, cool-headed, a good pick. Olivia was next, a friend of Sephora's (their line was fourth thickest), who quickly met and had an understanding with Rebecca. She was quiet then, not too shabby. You were the fourth, as you had a decent credit rating and the initial jobs out of college made a 3 bedroom unfeasible. It took some convincing from Rebecca, but the other two agreed. Erica came last, after you had all moved in. She moved in after dating Olivia for six months. You had two months of quiet, before she came in and made a bunch of people who were ok with you into a battlefield between two sides.

So, where does that leave you? Well, you guess it's alright. Rebecca and you were good friends. Actually, the app seemed to know a lot, so maybe you really were her greatest friend. Thinking about it, she was your greatest one, even if you did have some guy friends you hung out with every once in a while. So while you would've preferred Possible Lovers or Almost Paramours, Best Friends was pretty good. At the very least, you knew she had your back.

There was no shock when you saw the two smallest lines. The ones between you and Erica, and you and Olivia were tiny, so small you could barely see them, pixels wide. Clicking them revealed Annoyance for Erica's line and Olivia's stated Bad Blood. Both stated your mutual relationship quite succinctly. You thought Erica was an annoying bitch and she thought you were an annoying creep. Olivia and you had grown distant, with you trying to tell her to stand up for herself against Erica, and her telling you that you were worthless.
