Belinda: Before the Storm

The undead watched as her 'new captain' was led through the complex. She wasn't sure how the arch-imago had planned this so well - she was smart, but terrible with predicting how people would act - but things had seemed to be starting off smoothly. The fact that Captain Roger is leading him personally is even better. Disrupt the chain of command and an organized army turns into nothing more than a mob. It'll make victory that much easier...

After waiting for their footsteps to quiet, she walks in the opposite direction. Navigating to the nearest Monsquad cell, she enters through the dented metal door to stare at the gargoyle in front of her. Sunset was still a few hours away... If things are bad enough that we'll need her help, we won't last long enough for her to be of any help at all... Despite that, the arch-imago had planned for this possibility. Belinda pulls a folded sheet of parchment from under her shirt, setting it with the gargoyle's clothes. Hopefully it won't come to that...

"[SL] What does the note say?" Belinda, startled for a moment, takes a breath. It was weird, having a dulled sense of touch. Sometimes she forgot about the blue blob encompassing her.

"It's telling her what to do when she wakes up. We won't be here to tell her ourselves." The undead begins walking out the room, heading to the yard to speak with Susan and Xerxes.

. . .

The minotaur and human stare in disbelief before the latter begins signing back. "[SL] How do you know all this?"

Belinda purses her lips. "[SL] I can't say. Just trust me. If we do well enough, we'll all be free by morning." She makes eye contact with Xerxes. "[SL] Guaranteed."

Xerxes, who has difficulty with ASL because he only has two fingers, doesn't bother trying. "I... Ess won't like it, and I don't either, but..." He pauses, staring oddly at Belinda's torso. "Is she okay?"

It's now that Bel looks down, seeing the slimeskin in the process of slipping off, forming the original blue blob next to her foot. "I'm not sure." With what's left of the slime on her hand, she signs. "[SL] Are you alright?" With no response, she continues sliding and dripping off, coalescing into a large blue blob, the size of a short haystack. "She isn't responding..." This shouldn't hinder the plan too much, but... "Xerxes, explain the situation to Essraya and Markonath. Both of them are...suspicious of me already. Susan, help me roll the slime into Dusk's cell. We can make sure she's safe there."

The minotaur trots off, leaving Belinda and Susan with the slimy, sticky task of pushing the blue blob away. It's unpleasant, and inefficient, since their hands continue to push into the slime with nearly every heft, but they eventually are able to squeeze the slime through the bars of the devil's cell, just in time to hear a watchman's bell.

Susan looks to Belinda. "Are you sure this plan'll work?"

The dullahan nods. "I guarantee it. Just make sure you don't kill anyone."
