biography
Beleth was born in the Sheol province, to a legionnaire of the local legion, during the reign of the previous duke. Beleth was therefore quickly taken in and had a lot of military influence in his life. He was also larger than most children, with a lot of people wondering how on earth a person could be this tall at such an early age. The reason was discovered once his skills became visible on his adventurer card. Beleth has the [Gigantism] skill. This skill makes it so Beleth is 1 and a half times the size of an average person.

While normally, an S-rank like Beleth would be given a chance to be adopted by the local duke, this duke only had one son and was hoping to have some more children in the future, with possibly 1 of them being an S rank. Thus, the duke had no interest to adopt Beleth, but did keep good relations with him. Even after Beleth started working for the demon king, he regularly visited the ducal family of Sheol and acted like some kind of uncle to Jadis and his sisters, telling them great stories of his adventures. Like bragging about the extra strength he got when wearing the bracers Oriax made or that time he used the bracers to defeat Duchess Keres in a 1 on 1 duel and was therefore permitted to impregnate her.

Beleth was present at Jadis' marriage to Ravana and eventually also at Jadis' funeral. It was only during the latter that he found out Jadis had been abusing his sisters. Beleth felt he should have noticed it back when Jadis was alive and stop him. He apologized to the sisters, but they said it was alright and they forgave him. Though this didn't take away from Beleth feeling like he failed them.

When Ziges started his rebellion, Beleth first wanted to stay neutral. But when his home province of Sheol sided with the loyalists, he felt duty-bound to join them. While eventually, Ziges' forces defeated him, it was a hard won battle. Beleth refused to stop fighting as long has he had energy. Only when he was made unconscious were they finally able to put him in chains and bring him before Ziges himself.

Ziges first punished Beleth for standing against him by ripping his wings out. Then, when Ziges demanded Beleth to surrender, Beleth refused. There was nothing Ziges could do to convince him to change sides. Not even the promise of giving back his wings after a show of loyalty was acceptable to Beleth. So, Ziges was forced to throw Beleth in a prison and leave him there.
