The Sith acolyte begins his training on Korriban
Back on Coruscant
Dorcol Casbaye sat in a quiet room, meditating in a circle with his fellow Initiates. Since they were infants and children, they had studied and tested in the way of the Jedi. They had spent the entirely of the last almost two decades in a strict schedule learning self discipline and the art of the Force. Their daily schedule went as such: They would eat a communal breakfast together after waking up, and then move onto Force study in the morning, where they would learn the three main applications of its use; such as Control, Sense, and Alter. Followed by the first of their five mandatory meditation sessions.
Then they would move on to their midday studies; where they sat in a classroom and a non-Jedi instructor would teach them multiple types of lessons. These lessons would often include galactic law, the sciences, language, and political strategy. After these lessons concluded, they would have their second mandatory meditation session.
Next they would have their second communal of the day in the form of lunch. Once they finished eating, they would have a third meditation session before moving on to their afternoon physical activities, including, but not limited to lightsaber training. They would be taught Forms I through Form VI of lightsaber combat by using training lightsabers. For they would be unable to use an actual lightsaber until they crafted their own within the caves of the planet Ilum.
As part of the last hours of their day, they would have their fourth mediation session. Which was then followed by their third communal meal of the day, lastly, they would have their fifth and final meditation session of that day before going to bed. This was the daily life and schedule they lived, with the lessons only growing in difficulty as the years passed.
Currently Dorcol was sitting in the middle of their third meditation session of that day, and knew that in a few minutes from then, they would move on to physical activities, his least favorite part of the day. Their Jedi instructors had ensured that each Initiate would have to meet the standards that they require. So, while Dorcol was passing each of his classes, he did have his strengths and weaknesses. While he was one of the top Initiates when it came to their classes on Force Study, doing especially well in the Force Sense application, he found that natural talent seemed to have been traded for his lightsaber combat abilities, with him losing practically every sparring match he fought in. For every other class, he usually ranked average or slightly below average.
He mentally tried to shake away those feelings. It was due to the will of the Force that his natural abilities were this way. In a way, he was blessed to not be the most talented of his peers. For where there was high natural talent there was exceptional power, and where there was power, there was temptation. Temptation to seek even greater power, which could lead one to falling to the dark side of the force.
Dorcol tried to instead use this time to further hone his Force Sense. Trying to listen in on the whispered conversations that took place outside the walls of the meditation room. His power in the Force was not very strong, even with years of practice and study. So most of the conversations he was able to pick up on were muffled and hard to translate through the static.
But somewhere in there, he managed to hear one key phrase. One that made him shake with fright immediately upon hearing it, drawing the attention of nearby initiates and the Jedi master that was meditating with them.
“Dorcol, what’s the matter?” the Jedi master asked, worried.
“I-It’s the Sith! They’ve returned!” he yelled. Upon hearing that, the concentration of every other Initiate broke. They all began to stir, worried glances going between them as they whispered amongst themselves, asking each other if what he had said was true, and if it was, what that could possibly mean for them.
“All of you, remain calm. Reach deep into yourself and let go of the fear that holds you. Trust in the Force and remain strong, like an oak tree firmly rooted in the earth, not bowing to even the strongest of winds,” the Jedi master said, his voice echoing throughout the chamber. Slowly but surely, his words did their trick, and order returned to the heart of each Entities, including Dorcol.
“Now, it is time for us to move on to the afternoon physical activities. However, I can say for sure that in regards to the Sith, in place of your next meditation session, a gathering will be held for all the initiates. So I ask that you all remain calm until that time, where all that we know so far will be explained,” the Jedi master said, as each Initiate stood up, and formed a line to move to lightsaber practice area.
It was time for practice, needed now more than ever.
