Awakening

Coming to, I immediately sit up screaming so loud my throat felt raw. As I began involuntarily **** with my eyes watering I began taking note of my surroundings. The night sky was giving way to the first signs of dawn with the surrounding forest slowly showing its vibrant colors as the birds began singing their morning tunes.

Hold up, forest? Why am I in a forest? Where am I? What happened to the sky? What happened to me?

As my mind began racing, I took pause because I felt thirsty and after slowing my thought process down I decided it was best to just look for a source of water and maybe some breakfast.

Walking around aimlessly for what felt like an hour my mind started to panic again and I started asking the question again over and over in my head, "where am I?"

Where am I? WHERE AM I? WHERE AM I??? WHERE AM I????!!!??

As panic had ensued and took over I started getting thirstier and hungrier. My aimless walking turned into a light jog likewise my panicking led to increased anxiety and my breathing became heavier and heavier. As I moved through the forest, my surroundings became increasingly gloomy. To my left I hear a screech, and my light jog became a dash. Immediately running in the opposite direction of the screech I run at full speed not paying attention to what surrounds me anymore.

Being anything but fit my exhaustion quickly approached. I couldn't hear my own thoughts as my breathing started getting too loud. My heart thumping louder than it ever has before, I started feeling dizzy. I didn't know what was happening to me, it truly felt uncomfortable. As time passed, my legs just gave way and I succumbed to exhaustion landing face first onto what appeared to be the most conveniently compiled set of dead leaves.

I couldn't move, my eyes losing focus as I started blinking rapidly. Eventually losing the will to keep them open, I just closed them. The only thing I could do now is take in the scent of this forest during what smelt like the beginnings of the fall season.
