At the hotel

The car finally came to a stop, and Sofia and John got out and walked into the hotel lobby. Sofia took care of most of the check-in process, while John relaxed on one of the lobby couches.

A few minutes later, Sofia walks back over to John and hands him his room key. "Room 2532, Mr. Doe. Please head to your room and get some rest as you'll need it for the trip tomorrow and the eventual hunt."

John thanked her for the key and he headed for the elevator while Sofia headed back out to the towncar. It was late, so John was the only person in the elevator in the ride up to the 25th floor. This was one of the hotels that had a glass elevator, and the higher up it went the more of the town he could see.

As John looked over the town, he reflected briefly on his life so far. He had always lived in this moderately sized town, nothing like New York City but definitely wouldn't be considered a small, tucked away sleepy town. John had mostly stayed within the town's area, never finding a reason to venture beyond it. The one and only time he had left was to go to a state college out in Michigan. It was there where he spent a semester abroad in Bangkok, Thailand during his junior year. He had gone with a group of friends to take some courses and experience what his friends had sold to him as an "exact opposite of where you grew up."
