Where does Daniel's manhood begin to unravel?
At home (his mother's)
Like many college students, Daniel still lived with his mother. She didn't really approve of his transition, frequently referring to him as a girl. He tried not to let it bother him.
What did really bother him was his mother's lack of respect for his privacy. She was snooping through his dresser when he came home from his classes one day, and his whole body felt hot with embarrassment wondering what she'd seen.
"Do you have any bras at all, honey?" His mother turned to look at him, and he quickly shook his head.
"I don't need a bra, mom."
"Yes, you do, young lady." Daniel's mom swatted his butt over the seat of his pants, making his face burn. "Your aunt and cousins will be staying with us for a while, and I won't have you going on to them about all this boy nonsense."
Daniel felt his stomach clench in anxious knots. "Mom, that's not fair!"
"I don't want to hear it!" She grabbed his wrist. "Come on, honey. We'll get you some clothes. It's only three weeks."
