Chapter 21

What's next?

At her tent

The orc woman smirked, a glint of mischief in her yellow eyes.

“Oh, don’t worry, little human. For now, you will stay in my tent as my... guest, shall we say? As for your friend, well... he might not be so lucky.”

Her words sent a shiver down my spine. What was she planning to do with Korant?

“Don’t worry, I won’t harm him. At least not yet. Maybe I’ll have some... fun with him, too,” she said with a wicked grin.

I swallowed hard, trying to push the image out of my mind. I had to find a way to escape and rescue Korant before it was too late.

Her tent was nearby. She led me to it and I was surprised by how spacious and decorated it was. Animal furs adorned the walls, and a large bed with plush pillows dominated the center of the tent.

“Make yourself comfortable, little human. You’ll be staying here for a while,” she said, gesturing towards a set of cushions on the floor.

I cautiously sat down, keeping my eyes on the orc woman at all times. She did not seem hostile at all, oddly enough. One could even say there were hints of friendliness, but I couldn’t let my guard down, not even for a second.

“Don’t sit there all nervous. I said you’re my guest, no? Get some rest. I’m sure you’re tired,” she said in a tone that sounded akin to an order.

Her words felt like a trap, but what else could I do? Plus, the longer I remained on the cushions, the more I realised how fatigued the day had left me...
