"Why is there such an interest in me?" You ask.

"Because only those of Joram Gadston’s blood," Cin's eyes widen dramatically as her voice takes on an ominous tone, "can give forth the seed that will summon the Crawling Chaos, the Whispering Darkness, the Stalker Among the Stars, the Faceless god—who will plunge this world into eternal night, enslaving all under the rule of the sorcerer-lords of Celephaïs, who will bind everyone with lash and chains... blah, blah, blah, blah, blah ..." Cin rolls her eyes in amused disgust while waving her hand dismissively.

"Yeah, he was that crazy," she continues, her tone lightening. "Joram—sorry, I mean the high-sorcerer and Black Pharaoh Gadston—was utterly convinced that only those of his bloodline deserved any part of his vast inheritance. He used his so-called 'dark magical arts' to select only those he deemed 'worthy.'"

"Why you?" Cin shrugs slightly, a hint of intrigue in her voice. "I can’t say for sure. But I do know he had a particular interest in you. While all the other potential inheritors received their instructions through videos, you were the only one he insisted I approach in person. I think you were his favorite. Why? If I had to guess, maybe because you’re the smartest, or perhaps the most noble, of the bunch chosen to possibly bear the 'black mark' of the god with a thousand forms."
