Ask her to come in
"Um, would you like to come in?" you ask tentatively, uncertainty lacing your words.
Upon hearing your invitation, Camille's expression flickers with a brief frown, her disappointment evident for a moment. Then, with a resigned tone, she replies, "It's late, maybe next time."
As she turns to leave, you watch her retreating figure with a sense of regret gnawing at you.
You wonder if maybe you made the wrong choice.
