As you slide your head and arms through to safety, you see the worm bearing down on you - you're cutting it awfully close!

You duck your head through the opening just as the worm catches up to you! Its rope-like tongue shoots out and wraps around your wrist, keeping you from escaping through the hole or surfacing! You struggle against its tongue for a moment, but you can feel it overpowering you and pull you against the grate. It can't pull you back through, but if you don't act quickly it'll drown you! Thinking quickly, you twist your hand around to grab its tongue with Strokmier, just managing to gurgle out the magic words to activate it with the last of your air.

Strokmier activates - azure sparks all across the worm's body as the arcane forces that summoned it rapidly fray away! It writhes in pain, trying to retract its tongue from your grip. With one firm pull it yanks free, taking your gauntlet with it! It wheels around and dives into the side tunnel, disappearing into the shadows.

You finally get your head above water, gasping for air and gripping the bars for support. You may have escaped with your life, but your only weapon to defeat the succubus is now gone... Strokmier's lingering effects should fully transport that disgusting worm from this plane of existence, but it's impossible to tell when and where it'll finally be banished. Even if you wanted to risk going back for your gauntlet, you're not sure you could follow it through those thin pipes. Unfortunately, retreat is no longer an option.
