Arrested

Mary was at the shopping mall with her friends for usual delinquency. “You know that store that’s always empty,” her friend, Rylie said. “I bet you, you can’t take write on the bathroom wall and get away with taking something without getting caught.”

Mary had taken the dare knowing full well her parents could just bail her out. She was an adult and had no concerns for the law or getting caught. Mary knew the shop Rylie was referring to. It usually only had one or two people working and she never saw anyone really care about what customers did.

So, Mary slipped inside the store and made her way directly to the bathroom. Mary carried a permanent marker and decided to write some words of profanity on the wall. She then exited the bathroom and eyed an item to take. She picked out a small ring that would be easy to hide, though was definitely very expensive. She dropped it down her shirt and ran for the exit.

Mary believed she got away until she was approached by a mall security guard. “Excuse me ma’am, we had a tip that there was someone shoplifting and vandalizing that matches your description,” she said. “Please come with us.”

Mary rolled her eyes and shoved the guard away taking off running for the exit.

Mary was quickly chased but felt like if she just made it outside, she would get away with her crime.
