Mary made a run for it, but as soon as she stepped outside of the mall, her jaw dropped. Their were three cop cars surrounding the entrance and multiple officers all pointing their guns. “Put your hands in the air, drop whatever you’re holding, we have the place surrounded. If you try to run, we will shoot.”

Mary’s eyes bulged she put her hands up and three officers immediately rushed her with their guns pinning her against the glass door and pulling her hands behind her back. “You’re under arrest for multiple counts of petty larceny, vandalism, and attempted fleeing from the scene of a crime,” the officer said. “You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford one, one will be appointed to you…”

Mary squirmed as she felt the silver cuffs on her wrists. She had never been arrested before. She had never been caught before.

“Alright, we’ll have to search her body for stolen merchandise,” the officer said. “We either do it here or at the station. Your call, chief.”

Mary squirmed. She prayed they’d take her to the station. To be strip searched in front of the mall with everyone watching… it would just be humiliating.
