Anxious and confused

"Good evening sleepyhead" I say to her and wait for her reaction. Since she still seems to be a bit tired, she doesn't notice me right away. This changes, however, when she notices that she is not in her dormitory. She is startled and looks at me.

"Where am I and who are you?" she asks loudly, startled. She pulls her bedspread close to her. "My name is James Gardner. You are here in my house" I answer calmly. "How did I get here? I fell asleep in Hog... somewhere else yesterday, didn't I?"

"I guess that's right" I laugh briefly. "You can say Hogwarts, I know the castle. However, I can tell you that you will never see it again, at least never as you know it."

She looks a little scared and looks around as if she is looking for something. "Looking for this?" I hold up her wand, then toss it to her. She catches it and immediately points it at me. "Where am I? What do you mean I'm never going to see Hogwarts again? Answer me, or I'll curse you."

I give another short laugh. "Put the wand away, it doesn't work here." She looks startled for a moment, but then she calls out, "Stupefy," however nothing happens. She looks at her wand in wonder and tries again. "Stupefy" nothing happens. She becomes more panicked and frightened. "Wh-what did you do? Why isn't my wand working?"

"Well, I'll try to break it down for you a little gently. You're not on the Earth you know anymore. Hogwarts, your friends Harry and Ron, and a lot of other things you know like the wizarding community don't exist here."

I give her a moment to let what I've said sink in. However, she looks at me grimly. "Don't give me that crap. You did something to me. Are you a former **** Eater out for ****?"

I laugh at the statement. "Haha, no not at all. I don't belong to Voldemort. I'm not even a wizard." At this, Hermione looks surprised. "Why should I believe you?" she asks, trying to look brave. I pull out my laptop. Hermione's eyes go wide. "What's this?" she asks in amazement, unable to disguise her interest. "Oh well, you're from 1997, you don't know about laptops yet."

Hermione looks even more unsure. "Wh-what do you mean I'm from 1997?" "I was actually planning on telling you that later. It's 2021."

She tears her eyes open. "2021? How, how is that possible? That can't be possible." She jumps up and tries to run out of the room. However, when she reaches the door, she fails because the door is locked.

"Let me out of here!" she yells and turns around, "Calm down first. I'll explain everything when you calm down." Sure enough, she calms down a bit, which amazes me. "Sit on the bed." Hermione sits down on the bed, still dressed in her pajamas.

She looks at me grimly. "Well first, I'll introduce myself again. My name is James Gardner. The reason I know you is because you don't actually exist. You're a novel, or movie character."

Hermione looks at me in disbelief. "So you're not going to tell me." "But I am telling the truth. One second." I stand up and unlock the door. Then I pick up Hermione's gift, which I bought at the bookstore. I put the 7 books on the small table in the room.

"Here, see for yourself." I point to the Harry Potter books I bought at the bookstore. Hermione looks at the books and pauses. "Do you believe me now? I bought these books as a little present for you, since you like to read."

She takes the first book. "So it's quite late. I'll explain everything else tomorrow. Tomorrow the next two should arrive as well." Hermione looks startled. "Don't worry no one you know. I'll introduce them to you tomorrow."

I stand up. "Make yourself comfortable. If you need something to wear for tomorrow, you'll find your school uniform in the closet. Good night then." Without Hermione saying anything else, I walk out of the room and lock it from the outside.
