Another Email from Pete

Saturday morning, and there’s another email from Pete sitting in your inbox. You see it with dread. Ever since you sent that email telling him you had the Snetterton Collection you’ve regretted that act of honesty. For the last week you’ve been ignoring his previous email. You can’t ignore it now.

The email remains cordial, but you can sense the urgency behind it. It repeats the message of last week. It asks whether everything is ok. But the fact that he sent it a second time tells you everything you need to know.

You have to reply. You have to tell him something.

He’s chasing you. The University is chasing him. You know all about the University. Slow to defend its people. Quick to harass those it can. Once you’re in its sights, you’re doomed until you comply.

You must reply. But how?

Hand over the box? Surrender the Snetterton Collection? Surrender some of it? Pretend it was all a mistake?
