Another Dream, A Lone Stand

....

Your eyes open. You stand upon a lonely dirt hill. There is a cascading gleam of metal before you as the sun pierces through the low drifting clouds ahead.

An army of soldiers outfitted in armor of silver and red sit upon their horses. The banners of their kingdom are held proudly high into the air announcing their crusade. They create a massive line miles ahead of you across the horizon. You however unlike them wear colors of blues and silver to contrast them.

Your eyes squint along the edge of their formation....a pit in your stomach forms as you imagine each of these men's lives before standing here.

-Then, almost as if it was a reminder, sudden loud war horns blare into song and you feel the rumbling and warcries of men begin to ride towards you.

You swallow hard and discard the feeling of guilt leaving nothing but an annoyance at the back of your throat.

"We'll tell our stories in battle then." You mutter to yourself.

You grab beside you a trusted blade, mundane in nature but in your hands it becomes something that can seemingly rival legendary weapons.

You brandish your sword and await the enemy, standing firm on your hill. This war won't be your last as it isn't your first. It is an ugly thing, countless lives **** to march at the expense of a king's greed and play for power.

Now, you waver no more, you can't. You're all that's left and there are people you care about, people you want to see again. Their presence alone will warm your cold heart....

"You should've sent your heroes...." You say before a blinding light engulfs your blade and you swing with no more remorse.
