Annie is tested

It's late in the evening, and Annie arrives in the kitchen of the Baxter building to get some food, when she sees Gwen making dinner

Annie: Oh, hey Gwen

Gwen: Hey Annie, why don't you take a seat at the table? I'm almost done preparing dinner

Annie: I didn't know you used to work there

Gwen: What are you talking about?

Annie: I'm talking about what you're wearing

Gwen: Oh, this, I never worked there, my boyfriend Miles bought this for me

Annie: The one that died

Gwen: Yeah, he was quite the pervert. He wanted to do some roleplay with me, not that he ever had the balls to go through with it

Annie: Then why are you wearing it

Gwen: Because it's comfortable. My other clothes were in the wash, and I didn't feel like dressing up, especially since we'll be in bed in a couple of hours

Annie: I see. Where's Sue

Gwen: She's patrolling the city, she'll be back soon, but we don't have to wait for her before we eat

Annie takes a seat, and Gwen brings the food a couple of minutes later

Annie: Thank you Gwen

Gwen: No problem

They start eating

Annie: Gwen, can I ask you a question

Gwen: Sure

Annie: How did you deal with your boyfriend's death

Gwen: I take it this has to do with Hughie

Annie: It does

Gwen: You just have to accept it Annie. No matter how good you are as a hero, you will not save everyone, Miles will always be with me in my heart, but Hughie isn't dead yet, he will wake up

Annie: I know, but how do I keep going if he does die

Gwen: Because you have to. If you give in they will have died for nothing. Keep going; that's how you keep their will alive

Annie: Miles was the Brooklyn Spider-Man, right

Gwen: Figured it out huh

Annie: Nobody has seen him in a while

Gwen: Well, Mayor Rio did mark him as an illegal vigilante, and that was hard for her to do. Miles was her son after all, but he didn't listen and that is what got him killed

Annie: What do you mean

Gwen: He wasn't a good hero; he kept messing up and making situations worse. I begged him to walk away from this life, but he didn't listen

Annie: So he's like me

Gwen: No, you're not like him. He never listened, you do. We've seen that in training. We will get Shego, and everyone she has hurt. You want to prove you're better, help us catch her and bring her to justice

Annie: I will

Sue: Good evening

Gwen: Welcome back Sue. How was patrol

Sue: Nothing I couldn't handle

Gwen: There's still some food left

Sue: Thank you, I'll eat in a bit, Annie are you finished eating

Annie: Almost

Sue: Then finish it and go to bed. There are some things I need to discuss with Gwen, and you'll need your sleep for tomorrow.

Annie: Sure

Annie finishes her dinner and goes to bed

Sue: Has she taken it in

Gwen: Yep, she'll be knocked out soon enough

Sue: Good, let the test begin

Annie quickly falls asleep when she gets to bed and wakes up hours later in a dark room chained to the ground

Annie: What the hell

Robotic voice: Annie January, alias Starlight, we have noticed that you live in the Baxter building. You are gonna tell us everything you know about it. For a start, you're gonna tell us Spider-Woman's identity

Annie: I don't know how you got me here, but I'm not telling anything

Annie gets kicked in her gut

Annie: FUCK

Robotic voice: You are gonna tell us

Annie: NO I'M NOT

Annie tries to use her powers on the person who kicked her, but nothing happens

Annie: What the hell

Robotic voice: There's no light nor an energy source here, you can't use your powers

Annie: I STILL WON'T TELL YOU ANYTHING

Robotic voice: I'm sure my assistant will make you see reason

Woman: Oh, I will

Annie gets kicked again

Annie: FUCK

Woman: Because I can do this all night

Annie: Focus, Annie, they trained you for this

Annie grabs the woman's leg when she tries to kick her again and pulls her down

Woman: YOU BITCH

The woman tries to hit Annie in the face but she blocks it, which makes the attacker hit the steel handcuffs

Woman: fuck

Annie then hits her with both her hands and the steel handcuffs

The woman tries to get away, but Annie puts the chain that's attached to the floor around the woman's neck and pulls down, before she gets out of reach

Annie: YOU MOST LIKELY HAVE THE KEYS TO THESE CUFFS, EITHER YOU GIVE THEM UP NOW, OR I'LL STRANGLE YOU TO DEATH

The woman throws the keys to Annie, who lets go of the woman, who then gasps for air, while Annie takes off the cuffs

Annie: Now I can move

Woman: You're still stuck here with me, and I'm not letting you escape

Annie: I can take you

Woman: Without your powers, I doubt it

The woman runs at her and tries to kick her, but Annie immediately notices that the strikes were far slower than Gwen's during practice, so she dodges them with ease

Annie: You'll have to do better than that

Annie hits back before the woman can react

Woman: Guess you have some skill

Annie kicks the woman against the leg to throw her off balance, then punches her in the gut before tackling her to the ground, and pinning her there

Woman: You're stronger than I thought

Annie: That was your mistake. Now who are you

Annie rips off the black mask to reveal who's underneath

Annie: BLACK CAT?

Felicia: Surprise

she says as she winks at Annie

The door opens, and Sue and Gwen walk in

Sue: Good job

Annie: What is this

Gwen: A test, and you passed

Gwen helps Felicia up

Felicia: She hits hard

Gwen: Looks like I trained her well

Annie: This was a test?

Sue: We needed to know if you were actually learning from what we have taught you, so in order to find out we had to put you in a place where a powers are useless

Annie: a dark room

Sue: Exactly, though there are still some points we can work on, you did good.

Annie: I can't believe I beat the Black Cat

Felicia: Relax, I wasn't going all out, i needed to act like a high-level criminal, somebody you will witness on a daily basis when you finally start patrolling the city

Annie: Oh

Gwen: Don't be down, you did great, and we're not the only ones thinking that

Robotic voice: Great job, Annie

Sue: Aiden the voice changer is still on

Aiden: oh crap

You turn the voice changer off

Aiden: Good job Annie. You show real promise. Now have a nice night

Annie: Thank you sir. You too

Gwen: Come, let's celebrate

Sue: Felicia, he wants to see you

Felicia walks up to the viewing room where you watched the entire fight between Annie and Felicia

Felicia: You called me master

Aiden: Good job, you deserve a reward

Felicia: Thank you, master

Felicia closes the door behind her and walks towards you
