Annabell Rampages

(Author Note: This chapter is a bit experimental and has two pov changes)

As you feel awkward, a shout rings out, “Liliana Kinsella, President of Lilly School For Girls, escorted by her aid Surya Shrivastav, has arrived!”

You turn and put on a professional smile. Amara steps by you and passionately greets the two influential women. She then turns and gestures to you, “These are some of the wealthiest parents at the school, so I invited them.”

They are both wearing blue dress suits with matching skirts. Very business-like. It strikes you that there are three different styles of dress on display at this party.

You greet the school president with a curtsy, “I apologize for being underdressed.”

“There is no need to apologize,“ Liliana dismisses.

You move over to the table, and items are set before you. That’s when Amara begins to speak, “I hear your daughters are leaving the school.”

You nod and shrug. “They are interested in the outside world.”

“Yes, well, it must be hard for them to handle Lilly’s high standards without a father,” Amara quips while side-eyeing Liliana.

Joya complains, “Mom!”

Amara looks at her daughter with her nose in the sky. “You were going to write an article anyways.”

You clench your hands into fists and think. When did my daughters become someone to be bullied? Just because I let you go because you were a nobody? Because I’ve been preoccupied with my daughters? I, Annabell Squirter, am someone easy to deal with?!

PERSPECTIVE CHANGE: Joya

They are my friends. I didn’t mean to cause trouble. I just brought Annabell and Olivia here to help Jessica. I didn’t want this. You curse.

“I’m interested, but now isn’t-“ you begin to say before Annabell’s arm appears in front of you.

You look to your right, where Annabell is sitting, and she has a bright smile so bright it’s scary. She tells you, “Joya, it’s fine. This is just a casual conversation between parents.” Her voice sounds like honey, but why do you feel a chill in the air?

Annabell looks directly at your mother and says, “It’s understandable that some families are stricter than ours.”

My mom looks shocked at the comment and retorts, “What are you trying to say?”

“I’m not trying to say anything. It’s just that my daughters aren’t caged birds,” Annabell says with a look of genuine concern on her face. “But perhaps that’s hard to understand with your background.”

Your mother’s side of the family is connected to the sex trade. Though you are certain your mother never sold herself, she hates her family as it is a noticeable blemish. Perhaps that’s why she puts so much effort into looking wealthy.

Your mother’s face turns red as she scoffs, “Talking about background, you were raised by a single mother as well.”

Annabell seems unconcerned and waves away the thought as she says, “My mother is a capable woman in her own right who influential people seek after. While my father has a distinguished line. Unlike some men who have to dirty their hands.”

Your mother slams her hand on the table and points a shaky hand at Annabell. “You’re squirter family is nothing, just living off the wealth of prestigious families.”

“Ah, this chicken is from Hershire farms,” Annabell says, looking at her plate. You look at your plate, confused.

Your mom, also taken off guard by this change of topic, smirks as if she won, covering her face with her fan. “Ah yes, it’s quite hard to get,” she brags.

“Hmm, indeed, I’m sure it’s quite tough for you,” Annabell smirks as she pokes it with her fork. “We only eat meat from Lilly’s Dream Ranch. We ate some last night, didn’t we, Joya?”

You didn’t expect to be questioned here, and you look between your mom and Annabell. “I don’t know about chicken. It did taste good, you admit.”

Your mother has been trying to get access to Lilly’s Dream Ranch since we moved here. She’s been furious with the servants. She sends someone to stand there every day in hopes of getting something. Still, we’ve only managed to get a subpar product, which mom treats like a treasure.

Annabell looks around exaggeratedly and giggles with a hand coyly over her mouth. “Oh, is it not a preference? Are you having trouble getting proper food? That’s terrible. Since our children are such close friends, I can help you.”

“Sister,” Olivia says.

Annabell doesn’t seem to notice and says, “My investments outperform senators. Unlike some woman who can only adorn their gilded cage, I have no issue making connections and getting what my family needs. These decorations and mistreatment of guess do your serv-“

Olivia POV:

“SISTER!”

Your sister looks at you questioningly. You remind her, “You are affecting normal people.”

Annabell looks around and takes in the eyes of the workers. “Haa, I got a bit excited. I apologize,” Your sister apologizes to the other guests.

Amara stands and says, “I’m not feeling too well. Please enjoy the meal.” Without waiting for a response, she turns away. A woman in a maid outfit tries to comfort her, but she smacks their hand away.

Annabell talks to Joya, “I hope I didn’t make you too uncomfortable.”

Joya shakes her head and responds, “No, I didn’t mean to put you in this position.”

As some basic pleasantries are flung between the rest of us at the table, your mind wanders. No one would believe you, but you’ve taken a thermometer when your sister gets her dander up, and the temperature actually drops. Well, with the KDK and your mom’s work, you already believe in the supernatural.

The story that you had Jessica because you were jealous of the boy who had sex with Annabell is only half true. Annabell was better than you at everything, and when you heard that she was going to get pregnant, you felt left behind. Mom even encouraged her but told you to wait.

Annabell was always clingy with me and Mom. She’d hug and snuggle whenever she could. I always thought it was strange until Mom told me, “She’s scared of herself.”

“I’ve never seen Annabell scared,” I retort childishly.

“She’s younger than you, but all the adults are scared of her. She relies on her family. Never push her away. I believe she wants children to tie her down. I fear she may become a monster otherwise,” Mom lectured me.

It’s only later that you become infatuated with your sister. You grew closer through trying to raise the girls. Not even your brilliant sister could understand why they would all cry at all hours. Even when they were split up, they always knew when the other was crying.

When we first came to the school, there were plenty of snooty women who looked down on us. Annabell went on a warpath, and many lives were destroyed. The worst was that Annabell performed a scorched earth policy, leaving even the people who worked under them no path. They couldn’t even work fast food due to her wrath.

After that, we talked, and I promised to step in if she began to hurt ordinary people again. Since then, your sister has settled down and spends her days worrying about her daughters. Mom always says that the girls saved Annabell. But honestly, they saved us both.

(Author Notes: Hello, I feel mixed about this chapter. At first I was just going to have an excuse to mess with Joya's app functions. But as I built out Amara the chapter changed. I'm not sure if this was the right choice. It was much harder to write and it didn't reach the catty battles I've read before. But I think it shows a different side of our MC. Also I might try some POV changes during sex in the future to get the perspective of others.

**I hope this was enjoyable and not jarring.
