An unlikely ally bails you out

“Hey!” A posh feminine voice from a nearby tree startles you.

Oh great I’m surrounded too.

You turn your glance and are extremely surprised by whose upper half you see sticking out of the tree.

Katya the widowmother from the other day!? She musta’ still been following me!

“Oh Katya! Good timing!” You say giving a small wave.

“You didn’t see the elf in the tree?” The minotaur grumbles to his companion.

“No. Detect humanoids isn’t picking her up. Cloaking magic likely.” The dark elf replies.

“Oh that’s cute! Bold of you to assume I know magic!” Katya says with glee in her voice.

“Magic item then?” The dark elf inquires back, now seemingly invested in solving the mystery.

“Not quite.” Katya descends from the tree hanging from a thick strand of webbing. Her massive arachnid bottom half coming into the plain light of day. You witness two very different reactions from the highwaymen. The minotaur snorts in amusement and adjusts his grip on the javelin. The dark elf’s normally flat affect turns into one of pure shock and disgust.

“We leave at once.” The dark elf says pulling the arm of her brawny companion. The minotaur seems to hesitate but relent allowing her to lead him back into the tree line away from Katya.

“Wow they spooked easy! Gotta say that makes me feel self conscious.”
