An Unexpected Conversation

Nate couldn't help but notice as Brianne walked past him. She lived only a few blocks away and was around the same age but, though he saw her often, he was sure she didn't know he existed. He had the biggest crush on Brianne even though he hadn't gotten as far as introducing himself yet. He knew there was no way he had even the slightest chance with her and, seeing as she seemed kind of mean, he might not even get a soft rejection, so he figured there was no point.

Nate was shy, nervous around women to the point he had never even been kissed, and his studious and well behaved nature was in stark contrast to the kind of bad boys he usually saw Brianne with. He was also overweight. badly dressed and wore cheap glasses. The two were just not a match.

Despite what he may have assumed, Brianne had noticed Nate, just not in a good way. His stolen glances at her were not as subtle as he thought and she had started to become irritated by the creepy nerd who was always gawping at her. She found him revolting and hated the idea of the perverted thoughts he might be having about her as he stood and silently stared. She was in that bad of a mood already today that she decided to put a stop to it once and for all.

"What the FUCK are you looking at!" she exploded suddenly, walking aggressively towards Nate to intimidate him.

"N-nothing!" Nate stuttered looking genuinely scared.

"You saying I'm nothing are you huh? You little prick!" Brianne was right up in her face now "You were leering at me you little perv!"

"No, honestly I wasn't! I was looking at your ring, it just looked very unusual to me!" he lied desperately, not realising the effect those words would have "I think we got off on the wrong foot here. Why don't we just have a friendly conversation? Get to know each other?"

Brianne stopped in her tracks and looked confused for a moment. then smiled warmly and adopted a much breezier tone "Sure, sounds good. What to you want to know about me?"
