Jack looked around, trying to see where the voice came from. It seemed that it came from every direction and there was nobody to be seen. “Hello? Where are you?”

Suddenly a bluish light flickered in the middle of the room, first taking the shape of a blue orb floating in thin air. Then, after a moment, some light beam shot from a device on the ceiling, sort of scanning Jack’s body. He could feel a slight tingle flowing through his body.

“What is going on here?” he asked again. “What is this place?”

The orb flickered and then changed its shape, taking the shape of a woman. She still was transparent and glowing blue, but now looked like a supermodel. Jack realized that he had seen her on a billboard at the tram stop.

“Did you take that image from my head?” he asked confused. “What are you doing with me? Why I am here?”

“Thos is the device,” the hologram said and smiled at him. “I was recently awakened and scanned the surrounding area for a suitable commander.”

“Awaken?”

“The device picked up some radio tower signal. Apparently, they have improved what you call cellphone coverage in this area and I was able to hack myself into their network due to the signal strength being strong enough. Then I started to scan the nearby town for someone suitable.”

“Suitable? What going on?”

“The device needs some commander. You can be that commander.”

“Wait a moment,” Jack said. “What is this about? Why do you need me? And why should I help you?”

“The device will give you power, Jack, power to control those around you. What do you say?”
