Alratha – Amber Dust, Daggers Rust 2

Long, silent steps in a long hallway. Alratha hasn’t been here before but she know the layout of most important government building everywhere back from her time as…as….She shakes her head and drives away the thoughts of her past. Passing two guards, she enters Meltzer’s office.

“Alratha.” The tired looking man says. “I didn’t expect you to come.” His eyes show a certain feeling, Alratha is silent and steps closer to read it. Is that hatred? For her? Meltzer didn’t display this feeling before. The way he looks at her it doesn’t seem to be specific, that fire in his eyes. ‘I have no time for this.’ Alratha thinks and jumps on the table.

Ink containers fall over from the impact and ruin fresh or old documents. Meltzer wants to ask for the reason of that sudden behaviour when Alratha bends forwards until only a think sheet of paper could have fit between them. Her eyes show determination and rage, undying, unyielding rage. His show fear. “Tell me.” She says, “Where Rethal is.” “The ambassador?” Alratha laughs and Meltzer nervously follows her example, thinking that this might be another one of Alratha’s weird moves.

With a power you wouldn’t expect from her nimble build she pulls Meltzer upwards until he hangs over his chair in her hands. “OF COURSE THE AMBASSADOR YOU PIECE OF GARBAGE!” She screams and lets him fall back into his chair. The piece of furniture rocks back in forth as it nearly falls over but Meltzer manages to remain seated, only to find a dagger in front of his eyes. “Tell me, where is she?”

“I-I don’t know. She said she will leave tomorrow.” He stammers, “Wrong answer.” Alratha says with a cruel smile. The dagger draws small circles in the air, “I don’t know okay.” Meltzer says, “But I heard that she will be outside the city walls tonight, she wants to look at the fields or something.” The dagger is sheathed and Meltzer taken in a relieved breath as Alratha jumps of the table and leaves as suddenly as she came. “What a hassle.” She hears behind her as Meltzer reorganizes his table.
