Allow Helmid to show her mark

Helmid stepped down from the front of the carriage, soliciting a pleased smirk from the guard captain and the surrounding soldiers. "I would think you all would have better to do than harass a squire traveling with not just a saintess, but a Geod-sworn paladin besides. My name is Helmid Fastner. Need I show you my Geodstrike to prove I am who I say?" she questioned, keeping one hand on the pommel of her sheathed long-sword.

"A thousand pardons, milady, but a fancy shirt and a shiny sword prove nothing," Mertz responded, waving one hand dismissively. "Should I go about claiming to be a saintess by the same merit? I don't and I won't. You are, however, so the burden of proof is upon you. Give us a peek, will you?"

The woman's eyes narrowed and her frown drew tighter. "You understand that I am both a married woman and a saintess promised to a squire, do you not? This sort of indignity is..." she growled, although you thought you saw something else on her face. You'd seen enough of Helmid to know she wasn't likely to lose her composure just from taunts like this one. Perhaps she was putting on a show for Mertz, to ensure him he was humiliating her, just like he wanted?{if Freak = True}

Or maybe, just maybe, she was into it? Your intuition told you that may be the case. She had all but volunteered to jump out of the carriage and expose herself to the men. You made a note of that for future reference... It might serve you well in the bedroom.{endif}

Helmid closed her eyes while reaching down to the leg of her red-and-green checked dress, pulling aside the slit in the right leg to reveal more of her chainmail. There was no easy way to show this part of herself, besides undressing completely, so she instead chose to stick her side-arm dagger into the rings of the metal and cut open a small slit. She shoved the dagger in to make the slit wider, until it formed a hole large enough to see a fair amount of the whiteness of her inner thigh and just a hint of the vibrantly red undergarment beneath her leggings. Finally, you and the audience saw it: the handprint, clear across her inner thigh.

"So it is, so it is. The real Helmid Fastner, eh? Not every day a man of the common rank and file like myself gets to lay eyes upon a rich thigh like that one," he joked with his fellow guardsmen. "Perhaps we should put a thumb to it and give it a good rub, to see if it wipes off?"

"I've entertained this farce long enough. If any of you dares to touch me, I shall lay down a Geodstrike upon your neck, and we will have Geod himself reveal who is righteous," she threatened.

The man raised his hands and backed away chuckling. "No need for that! Your fiery spirit matches that hair of yours, heh heh. Proceed past the checkpoint. Best of look to all of you in your search for that false saintess," he finished, then bowed. "Milady."

Helmid stepped back into the carriage as you drove the horses into town. "What swine..." she spat, but there was a smile of satisfaction on her face that didn't match her words. "Ah, pardon. I was just thinking what it would be like if we could solve all of the obstacles in our missions so simply."
