Party or no party?
Alex decides to go to the party
The rest of the week passed quickly as Alex fell into a familiar routine. Classes came and went as syllabuses were discussed and lessons were begun. Basketball practices began in earnest ahead of the opening game the following week, and so cheer practice ramped up in partnership, allowing Alex to spend more time in the presence of the three constant women in his new group of friends. Where Taylor and Joey had always been, Nicole had become a constant as well and seemed to fit in seamlessly with the rest of the group. There were other women who seemed to have a skill of catching Alex's eye, but came out of the woodwork in earnest when it came to light that he was one of the Jones brothers and a new hope for the hopes of the struggling basketball program.
As the week progressed, all talk seemed to steer naturally towards the party Friday night at Cole's. Joey must have told him that Alex had thought about skipping, and so at basketball practice on Thursday, the topic was generally raised in the locker room after a particularly hard day of drills. It was raised in a way to avoid singling anyone in particular out, but if anyone else in the room was on the fence about the party, it was news to Alex. No one knew the reason Alex considered not going, as he couldn't really expect those who saw him as a jock to skip a party for a tutor session, so he encouraged the idea that it was because of the fight that had occurred in the gym earlier that week. He knew that there could only be one decision that would maintain his social standing in the eyes of his colleagues.
He found himself in his room, looking at himself in his mirror recounting the week as he let out a breath of satisfaction at what he saw. Joey and Taylor had always been amazed at how well the twins cleaned up when they wanted to, but perhaps it was the sight of them simply out of their normal basketball friendly attire that amazed them. He wore a casual button down shirt with the top two buttons undone, and wore some comfortable dressy-ish pants, as he had found out the hard way that no night is enjoyable if the pants you're wearing aren't worth staying in, at least until you get to the part where that's acceptable.
He combed his hair back from his face, and noticed how it was almost as long as Matt's, he had never normally let it grow that long, but he had to admit, he liked the way it looked on him. He walked out of his room and bumped into his mom in the kitchen. She was wearing a beautiful dress that accentuated her features successfully. The neckline of her dress showed the hint of a deep valley, and the dress extended down her legs enough to be almost form fitting whenever she took a step. Alex took a quick gulp of surprise before glancing aside hopefully before his mother noticed where his eyes wandered.
"Aren't you looking handsome tonight Alex?" His mom said sweetly as she came around the island counter and gave him a quick hug that made him painfully aware of her breasts pushed up against him.
"Thanks mom, you're looking beautiful yourself tonight." Alex complimented his mom.
"Well thank you darling. I have a date tonight, and I was sort of going for the beautiful look, so I'm glad I got it." She laughed. Sherry had been going on dates ever since her children were old enough to competently look after themselves after their father had died. Though she had commented on the fun of the dates, she rarely went on a date twice with the same person, and had spoken of her own understanding that she would most likely not be able to find another like her late husband. "You and Matt look just like him sometimes." She sighed wistfully staring into his face until she snapped herself out of it.
"Well you'll always have us here to remember him by." Alex said comfortingly.
"You're such a great son. Well don't mind me, go have your fun, I'll have a sock on the door if there's anything you need to be wary of when you get home." His mom said to him with a kiss on the cheek and a slight laugh of how awkward she had gotten her son.
Alex heard a honk and peeked out the window to see Matt and Taylor waiting in the driveway. "Matt's here. I'll see you tonight mom." Alex called as he pulled on his shoes and went out the door to the waiting car.
