What was her deal?

Putting that university-educated brain to use, he tried to reason it out.

She liked him, that much she made obvious. Back when they were kids, she must have had some childish crush on him, one that the young and immature Ethan failed to pick up on. The three-year age gap was petty now, but back then it was a world of difference. He barely even liked girls his own age at eleven.

But kissing her felt familiar. He’d never kissed her before… Didn't he?

That thought racked Ethan’s brain. Did he?

Walking while thinking, Ethan starts to tidy more, finally getting around to doing laundry and sorting out old linens. Did he? When? Ethan’s pretty damn sure he would remember kissing his friend's little sister. While he had some lapses in memory bordering on the ridiculous over the last few days, this was not something you just forget. If he did and he forgot, there had to be a reason. Or…

Maybe he didn't know he kissed her.

That notion gives him pause.

Ignoring the uncomfortable possible implications, Ethan settles on that theory, but finds himself still nowhere near an answer. Folding towels in the main floor bathroom, Ethan comes up with a theory: She kissed him in his sleep while sleeping over at Bobby’s.

It wasn't perfect. He didn't sleep over at Bobby’s much, but he did on occasion, and one occasion was all she needed. There was also the issue that her kissing him should have woken him up, but then again being half asleep could explain why he doesn't really remember yet seems familiar. There’s also the slightly creepy way of thinking about a young girl sneaking a kiss on him while he was sleeping, but is it really a stretch to think a child wouldn't think it weird? Prince Charming kissed Sleeping Beauty after all. Or was it Snow white? Either way, smooching sleeping people seems to have the Disney seal of approval.

Still… It doesn't seem right.
