Chapter 5 by Abdulalahazred Abdulalahazred

Whose game to follow?

Alex, college dropout

Alex inhaled and gathered his thoughts. He had to act scared and apprehensive, as though he was an innocent bystander looking for the Slutifier. Probably he would be, but if he wasn’t he needed to act like an Innocent Bystander, hoping he was the policeman…

He didn’t know these people. Didn’t know their tells and personalities. They didn’t know him. Just be convincing…

It wasn’t hard to act scared. There was a good chance he would end up a slut. At best two in five. Maybe even more. No one was going to risk shooting the wrong person… it was a tense cat and mouse game they were playing. He started to sweat.

Alex picked up a gun and felt a warm tingle in their hand - he was the Slutifier! He struggled to keep his expression appropriately worried as he tensely looked at the other players, acting as though he was an Innocent Bystander trying to evaluate the other player’s responses. As though he was looking for clues as to who the Slutifier was. Alex felt mixed emotions at being the Slutifier. He nearly laughed nervously.

He also wondered if maybe the instructions lied. What if everyone was a Slutifier? What if… none of the guns had darts!?

The others looked truly scared. He was also scared. He couldn’t reveal himself. He didn’t want to end up as a mindless slut.

The others held their guns and warily spread out. Who should he go after first? Was there a way to cheat?

The lights went out and the room was plunged into utter darkness.

Alex groped around in the dark, mind racing. If he slutified someone… how long until the lights turned on? He had to assume it would be immediately. So he would need to shoot from a distance and turn away once he fired.

He could hear furtive footfalls. Someone was crying.

Did the gun make a noise? If it did then he needed noise in the room. The more noise the better.

“Guys? Who do you think the Slutifier is?” Alex asked.

“Shhhh!” Someone hissed.

“No. We need to talk. Should we stand in the corners so we can see the whole room? But that makes it easier for the Slutifier to find us…” Daniel, the military man suggested.

“Yeah. But there are four corners and that means that we are more likely to find the Slutifier!” Jerry the stockbroker said. “Let’s get in a corner each.”

“I don’t know…” Marcus the biker said, the big guy was the one crying.

“I agree. It is the smartest way of finding the Slutifier,” Billy the IT geek said.

“Agreed,” Alex said. It was the best option for the bystanders. He listened. Someone was moving to a corner nearby.

Should he go to the occupied corner?
