Chapter 7 by OldAugustine OldAugustine

What's next?

About the Palace

There has been a certain rumor going around the school recently. A subtle speak about a secret place. Watson never knew about it, and so never paid any attention. But since overhearing a conversation last week, he was hearing about the Palace everywhere he went. The Cobweb Palace.

This afternoon he was making his way to AP Calc, his 5th period class, and brushed by a group of 4 girls huddled around a locker. He knew them by name, reputation, sound and smell. They were all members of the theatre club at Western. Renowned across three counties for stunning singing and very expensive costumes. This group of thespians is led by your typical blonde new Cadillac money child, Bonnie Carlyle. Imagine the facial definition of a slutty scaley pink dragon and a waist that those little grains of sand pass through. Her father, David Carlyle, partners the biggest law firm in the county and has donated a lot of money to Western over the years. From behind the scenes, Bonnie runs the theatre club. No shows get done without her approval. The theatre teacher, Mrs. Keller, is essentially just a prop for Bonnie’s whims. Bonnie is the first among equals, and the girls that befriend her know it.

Bonnie and this harem are the ones Watson brushed against just now. Among them are Bridget Hannaway, known class slut and rumored to have gotten an abortion over the summer. Joan Smith, a mixed-race girl whose aptitude for science is only matched by her ability to do a split. And Mary Temple, a siren covered in tattoos. She sort of went mad over the summer (most likely has always been insane) and came back to school with her head shaved. No one besides her friends know what happened, or why she did it. Her brunette hair is slowly growing back, but she looks kind of cute to Watsons surprise.

This group of girls are free and known by everyone. They can float between the theatre kids, the cheerleaders and sports teams, and even the student council kids. They’re connected to almost every part of the social life at Western and do as they please.

As Watson walked by he heard, “Bonnie, how is it going to work this weekend? The schedule—” Said Bridget nervously.

“Bridge, everything will be fine. The Palace will convene this weekend as planned. There will just have to be some adjustments.” Bonnie replied calmly. All business.

“Who do we have?” asked Joan.

“Ryans coming. She’ll be cool.” Assured Bonnie.

“Cool sure, but quiet?” said Mary, crossing her arms nervously. Bighting the ring on her lower lip.

“All the dues have been collected paid. Stop worrying girls.” Bonnie shut her locker and walked the other way. Her possie not far behind.

Dues? Schedule? Ms. Ryan? This weekend he would have to be very vigilant if he wanted to find out what’s going on in this school.

What's up with AP Calc?
