Chapter 3 by Mason0810 Mason0810

What’s Sally helping with?

A yard sale!

(I would like to apologize to who had given me this idea and I did not give them credit. Like a fool I deleted the chapter asking for suggestions before double checking who had said what. If this was your idea please leave a comment and take your much deserved credit! I did take some liberty with the idea and want to try and take it in an unorthodox direction.)

“And we are glad you did. Who would have thought that your brother’s baseball team would have made it into their conference tournament this weekend! Are you sure you’ll be able to hold things down today? We won’t be home until late.” Her mom butts in.

“Yeah I’ve got this, besides what else would your teenage daughter EVER want to do on a weekend other than sit in the yard and sell old junk.” Sally sarcastically responds.

“Well we did tell you that you get to keep half of whatever you manage to make selling our “junk” today” her father returns. He didn’t seem to interest in their conversation however, too busy making sure her younger brother’s baseball gear was ready to be put in the car.

Her brother came trotting down the steps in his baseball outfit, seemingly more asleep than awake. He didn’t even acknowledge anyone in the living room as he grabbed his bags and made his way to the car, their dad following suite.

“Well I guess that’s our cue to leave.” Her mom says to Sally. “Are you sure you’ll be ok?”

Sally laughs, “Yes mom, I’ll be fine, Lily will be coming over in a little bit and help me out today.”

“Mmhmm, well y’all two behave, Lily’s always been a bit of a mischief maker. Try and keep her behaved.” Her mom says. This makes Sally slightly blush, her mother unaware just close her words hit home.

“I’ll keep her straight, besides, how much trouble can you really get up to at a yard sale?”

With that, her mom gives Sally a hug then heads to the car.
