A tale of two Amys

"Okay, I have to ask," said Amy Madison to her black-haired twin from an alternative timeline. "What made you turn into a vengeance demon?"

"Nothing did," said black-haired Amy. "I chose to become a vengeance demon."

"Why would anyone choose to become a vengeance demon?" asked original Amy.

"Hey!" exclaimed Anya. "Don't knock it if you haven't tried it!"

"Actually it's quite simple really," said Amy. "Some time after I got de-ratted, I went through some tough times and I just happened to run into Anyanka and Hallie. Shortly after that, their boss D'Hoffryn made an offer that I couldn't refuse and I've been working as a vengeance demon ever since. At least I was up until a few days ago when I finally quit."

"Why did you quit?" asked Amy. "The wishes you granted proved to be too much for your conscience?"

Black-haired Amy just laughed.

"Oh, Amy, you are so funny," said black-haired Amy. "And here I always thought that my evil twin would prove to be a humorless old prude."

"Wait a minute!" exclaimed original Amy. "Your evil twin? No, you got it wrong. You're my evil twin. I'm the good Amy."

"Yeah, right," said black-haired Amy. "And I suppose that makes me the bad Amy."

"Well, you did choose to become a vengeance demon," said original Amy.

"Ahem!" exclaimed Anya.

"Only because I was dealt a bad hand in life and becoming a vengeance demon was my only way out," said black-haired Amy.

"Oh, please," said original Amy.

"If you're so good," asked Kennedy, "then why did you place a spell on Willow, making her think that I was Warren? And why did you conspire with Warren against me and Willow in the first place?"

"I never did that," said black-haired Amy. "That must have been another Amy."

"Another Amy?" asked original Amy. "How many Amys are there?"

"I don't know," said black-haired Amy. "Given that we live in an universe with multiple worlds and multiple possibilities, there could be thousands of us -- maybe even millions of us."

"So now I suppose you're going to pretend that you're not the same Amy who introduced me to Rack?" asked Willow.

"Hey!" cried black-haired Amy. "I don't know what future you remember, Willow, but I always thought we were square in regard to Rack. My first act as a vengeance demon -- okay, my second act -- my first act involved Warren Mears -- was to punish him for what he tried to do to you."

"Did you do that on your own or did someone make a wish?" asked Anya.

"I think we both know the answer to that, Anyanka," said black-haired Amy. "I did it for the same reason that I punished Warren Mears -- because someone made a wish. In fact, it was her."

And with that, black-haired Amy pointed to Willow.
