A surprise transmission.

"Guys, I know now isn't the time for this but we have an emergency broadcast from Admiral Hackett. He says we're gonna want to hear this." Ashley, James, Jack, Garrus, and the rest looked up as Joker spoke in urgent tones to them, prompting them all to head for the CIC, gathering around the Normandy Systems table to listen to a scratchy transmission from Hackett.

"Bzzt, Co... in Nor... dy. This i... Ad... ral Hac...tt. Ar... ou... reci... ng this?" The Admiral's communication was barely discernable amidst a sea of static.

Instinctively, Liara looked up and spoke. "EDI, could...." She fought back another tear as she pulled up the terminal in front of her and worked through the interference herself.. No where near as good as the AI's but the message becomes a little more stable.

"Come in Norma...y. This is Admir...l Hackett. Are you receiving Thi-.?"

"We read you Admiral, what news do you have of the wreckage?" Liara asked, concealing the urgent edge to her voice just enough to appear calm.
