A surprise from left-field

The game was not even close.

At the gym, you had teamed up with Julius and D'Marcus while three other guys had agreed to play a pick-up game, first to 10, and the three on three had taken maybe 10 minutes. During that 10 minutes, though, you had a chance to experience how much your new body was attuned physically to the game and you discovered several things: First off, DJ had some serious moves and command knowledge of the game, that was never in question. Second, your body and muscle memory allowed you to almost take a passenger seat as you did some serious rebounds, passes, shifts and power drives that would've never been possible. Third, and most importantly, you had a very good vertical that allowed you to snag rebounds and clear defenders for jump shots.

In a word, you were a baller.

Afterwards, while your friends were dealing with their girls, you found yourself standing and talking with Keisha, finding it both easy to talk with her as well as a bit awkward as she was both confident in her appearance and completely unconfident on her ability to talk with you. You found it adorable, really, and you did your best to put her at ease.

"I heard you were in the hospital at Mercy West for 2 weeks? Are you okay?"

You nodded, knowing that you shouldn't say too much about what had taken place while you were there. "Yeah, the doctors were really good, Saunders and Kerry took good care of me."

At the mention of those names, Keisha stopped in her tracks as the two of you were talking and walking a bit around the court and she reached out, taking a hold of your arm, and looked into your eyes. "Dr. Saunders, an older white guy with glasses?"

You nodded. "Yeah, that's the guy..."

She looked at you for a moment and then reached up to touch the area where they had made the incision and then, when she felt the unmistakable gap, gasped. "Oh my god, you're just like me..." Keisha leaned forward and looked into your eyes. "What was your real name, the one that you were born with?"

"S-Steve Meadows..." you whispered, looking equally stunned at the person infront of you not only knowing what the doctors who performed the operation looked like but also that she knew what they specialized in. "Who were you?"

She had tears in her eyes as she brought up her hand to his face. "Stevie, it's me...your sister, Fiona..."
