A student spy

"Now, Miss Birch," said Annabelle, once Melissa was composed and sitting delicately in the chair opposing her. "I have another little job that I would like your help with."

"Yes, ma'am?" inquired Melissa, cautiously.

"Since you are new at this school, I will assume you have not made any close connections with anyone yet?"

"No, ma'am, not yet."

"Excellent," said Annabelle. "Then you can help me with a special mission. Obviously, I cannot see every wrongdoing that occurs in the school. You are going to be my eyes and ears out in the classrooms. I want you to report to me at the end of every day with any rulebreakers you may have seen."

"I'm not sure, Headmaster," said Melissa. "I don't want to betray my fellow students."

"Don't think of it as betrayal, Melissa," said Annabelle. "You're only looking out for what's best for them. They need to obey the rules for the good of the school and the improvement of themselves. Plus, if you do this, I will reward you well."

"What type of reward, ma'am?"

"Well, you'll have to see once accept the job," giggled Annabelle. "Do we have a deal?"

"Ummm," stuttered Melissa. "Okay."

Annabelle clapped her hands together, "Great! I'm glad I can count on you. Now, you get back to class before you miss something important. I'll expect you here at the end of the day."

Melissa nodded and headed out of the room with Annabelle watching her as she went. Once Melissa was gone, Annabelle went to work on her computer, trying to get as much paperwork done as she could. It was an uneventful few hours until the lunch hour.

Annabelle decided to check the dining hall for any possible mischievous behavior that may be happening. She knew that students tended to get rambunctious during lunch, and she didn't want any food fights happening. When she arrived at the dining hall, however, she found it to be extremely calm. Students were talking in hushed voices and politely eating their food.

Searching for a teacher to see what was going on, Annabelle found Courtney McKenna, a science teacher, leaning against a wall, "Hi, Courtney, how is the lunch period going?"

"Oh, hello, Annabelle," said Courtney. "It is going very well actually. The girls were a big wild at first, but they calmed down after Tabitha disciplined one girl who threw a roll across the room."

"Huh," said Annabelle. "And where is Tabitha now?"

"I think she may have brought the girl to the nurse's office? The punishment was little harsher than it probably should have been."

"Okay, thank you Courtney." Annabelle decided to investigate what the Dean of Students had decided was a good punishment for good throwing. She left the dining hall and headed towards the nurse's office.
