Chapter 16
by Ebanu8
What is Shioko's answer?
A resounding yes
Oshima Shioko knew she was many things: Impetuous, hardcore, disciplined and focused with narrow tunnel-vision. An ice queen with barely an iota of interest in conversation, friendship, romance and casual fun, devoted solely to her work. Cowardly and hesitant, however, were not words to describe her personality.
She looked to Danjuro, who quickly said, "I want to know too."
At any other time, she would have flatly refused and rebuked him for daring to suggest trying to know such a horrifically adult reality. Danjuro's eyes reflected a steely determination, a maturity far beyond his years. Perhaps it was just braavado, a vain attempt to hide his fears, but she could also see in him a genuine desire to support her, to be there for her, as her family.
Breathing deeply, she steeled herself for the one answer she was ready to give.
"Yes."
You nod at this.
"Then prepare yourselves, both of you," You said.
"Of course, but first I believe we ought to tell your mother, Danjuro," Said Shioko, "She's deathly worried about you."
Neither Danjuro nor Shioko were looking forward to the upcoming conversation, but in this case, truth was better than lies.
Okano Aomi, mother of Okano Danjuro, bit her lip anxiously while waiting for Danjuro's safe return. She knew her son was a rambunctious rascal with an unfortunate bad habit of sneaking off to wander into abandoned areas out of curiosity. No matter how many times she reprimanded him, he always did so without fail.
This time, however, Shioko's call and information about him running into bad people had her genuinely worried, and though Shioko reassured her he was unharmed, she remained a worrywart.
"Come on, please hurry up..."
The doorbell rang, and she opened it to find Danjuro hugging her, sniffing as he cried in relief.
"Mummy!" He exclaimed.
"You silly boy! How many times must I tell you not to go to abandoned buildings!? There's all kinds of shady people using them, and they could have done real harm to you!" Aomi scolded before proceeding to hug him, "I'm just glad you're safe and sound."
"I'm so sorry, Mummy," Danjuro cried, hugging his mother tighter.
"Thank you for helping bring him back, Shioko," Aomi bowed to the police captain, before looking at you, "And this boy is...?"
"I'll explain later," Said Shioko, "For now, we need to have a private talk; me, Danjuro and him."
"Wait, why Danjuro? What's going on?" Asked Aomi.
"It concerns the bad people who kidnapped your son," Said Shioko, "I understand you'd want to be with him, but what we're about to talk about-"
"I want to know," Aomi said, "If it concerns those who tried to harm my son, I must know. I must."
Aomi flashed Shioko eyes of steely determination, tinged with fear over her son's wellbeing.
Shioko sighed, then said, "Then... I'll just say this: None of it's going to be pleasant."
"Does it matter at this point?" Asked Aomi.
Shioko found that it did not.
They borrowed Aomi's bedroom for their private talk, and it was here that you revealed to her your true identity and your purpose for being here. At first, Aomi looked at you like you had beansprouts for a brain - completely and utterly demented beyond help. The deathly serious looks both Shioko and Danjuro gave her however, combined with a flashy display of magic, made her reevaluate her choice of words.
"But... how is this possible? How is it that we've never heard of you until now? Or rather, there's no mention of you in any historical records or mythological stories!" Aomi exclaimed in disbelief, "And yet... that magic you just showed. No one else can do it, can they?"
"Not right now, no," You answered, "And I will give you the same warning as I gave them: Once you learn this knowledge, you will wish you never knew. Even so, do you still want to know?"
Aomi clutched her arm, biting her trembling lip.
"A part of me doesn't want to," Said Aomi, "I get the feeling it's just as you said, and yet... I just want to know if they're simple delinquents or worse people. If they are worse people, then my boy..."
"I ensured they do not remember him at all," You affirmed, "Though that's not the answer you look for, is it?"
"No," Aomi admitted, "I guess I... I..."
Aomi suddenly found herself at a loss for words, unable to speak what she wished to. Her hands began to shiver, her forehead dripping with cold sweat, and her eyes beginning to cloud with fear.
"Enough. If you're unable to speak of it, then you should not," You said, "Can I take it that you absolutely must know, no matter what?"
"I... Yes," Aomi answered.
"Then prepare yourselves," You warned, casting magic to show projections of the three faces who dared kidnap her son.
At once her shivering intensified, her eyes widening with horror. Her mouth flapped like a goldfish, her throat full to bursting with unsaid words, and both Danjuro and Shioko looked at Aomi with alarm. Yet all three remained enraptured with what you showed on the magic projection, and more images began to surface.
The three tanned men were seen operating a ryokan, maintaining the facade of friendly innkeepers offering revitalizing massages for women and a comfortable stay, with female staff helping serve meals and drinks. Customers would not realize that the females were drugging the males, leaving the women to be **** and violated, the acts of depravity caught on video camera. The tapes were downloaded and sold to the highest bidder - corrupt cops, politicians and any other customer.
And then, they saw the three Rapists' twelfth victim: Okano Aomi.
The self-righteous policewoman was busy investigating rumors of illicit sexual dealings and **** in the ryokan the three operated, so she investigated openly and discreetly. What she did not know was that Commissioner Tokifusa, then a backdoor customer of the innkeepers, took umbrage to her investigations and leaked her involvement to the innkeepers, who handled the rest.
Danjuro shed tears as he saw his own mother **** by the same men who kidnapped him, and Shioko shivered at the sight.
Then you showed them what would happen if Shioko went ahead with her reckless plan to investigate the blackmailing ring, and Danjuro wanted to scream in denial.
Shioko being gangbanged by the three rapists, her shame recorded on tape and sold for a hefty profit. Day by day, she would be **** to acquiesce to the Rapists' demands as they escalated, and then she was **** to bear their children. Her pride and dignity as a police captain and independent woman gone, she was a shell of her former self, ridiculed beyond redemption.
You wave your hand as the projection dissipates, and the three onlookers could only look blankly at nothing, their minds struggling to process what they just witnessed.
You stand up and say to them, "Take as much time as you need. If you need me, I will be outside."
Casting a spell to muffle all noises from this room, you exit the room and quietly close the door.
For long moments, none dared speak a word, too stunned to think straight, too shocked to move a muscle.
Then Shioko was the one to break the silence.
"You... were their victim?" She asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
It took all of Aomi's strength and will to **** her head to face Shioko's direction and creak a nod. Her eyes flooded with tears, her body shaking with shame and guilt. She hugged herself as she began to sob uncontrollably, the past memories bursting forth like an overflowing dam, and then she began to wail like a grieving mother, having lost something precious for good. Danjuro hugged his mother, offering a pillar of support. Shioko began to cry as well, frustration welling within her heart.
She suffered in silence, all this time. She never told anyone because it was too shameful...! And she never said who the father of her twin daughters was! All this time, she lied that it was a brief fling from a playboy boyfriend who didn't want to commit to a serious relationship! How stupid of me...
Shioko hugged Aomi as well, and for the time being, there was no one else in their world but the three of them.
You sighed as you leaned against the wall outside, knowing full well what was going on inside.
Having let out all of her repressed feelings, Aomi felt considerably better and lighter, as if a weight had lifted off her shoulders, and she dearly treasured the love and support she received from her son and friend.
"I'm really sorry I didn't do anything to help you, Aomi," Shioko said sorrowfully, "If only I'd seen the signs, if only..."
"Stop, Shioko, it's alright," Aomi waved off, "If anything, the fault lies with me for not saying anything to you, or to my son."
"How could you possibly talk about it? It was shameful and humiliating, and you had to suffer until they... grew tired of you," Shioko bit her lip hard, her hands clenched tight.
Danjuro hugged Aomi tighter, fierce determination burning within his eyes.
"It doesn't matter what happened to you or who my sisters' father is. You're my mom, they're my sisters. That's enough," He said.
Aomi nodded with a tearful smile of appreciation.
"But... why won't he go deal with the bad guys on the spot? I mean, he can easily do it, can't he?" Asked Danjuro.
"...I can't deny his strange inactivity's really strange," Shioko nodded, "I can only believe he has his reasons for not outright unleashing his power."
"What kind of reasons?" Aomi asked in confusion, "I mean, isn't anything possible with a living god?"
"I think we'll have to ask him ourselves," Said Shioko, "I'll go get him."
"No need. I am here."
They jumped in surprise upon hearing your voice outside the door, having expected you to be waiting downstairs. You opened the door and entered.
"You wish to know my reasons for not wantonly using my power, no?" You asked.
"Well, I... Yes," Aomi reluctantly answered.
"Then I will say this plainly; there is no point," You said, "Yes, anything is possible with my powers, but what would I achieve other than drawing unnecessary attention to me and the women I have sworn to protect? Or rather, why should I pointlessly expend my energy solving every single problem I come across?"
"Because..." Danjuro began, hesitant over his choice of words, "Because you're technically against **** and cuckoldry?"
"You make a valid point," You concede, "But as I said, I won't go wasting energy solving everyone's problems. And besides, even if I were to use my powers, is there a real guarantee the relationship I save from cuckoldry will then endure? Or will it break up regardless due to the faults of either one or both man and woman in a couple?"
Aomi and Shioko could not say anything in response to the logic of his words; Aomi's own marriage had turned sour because both she and her husband became too busy with work, and due to pride and other personal reasons, neither worked hard enough to stabilize and mend their marriage, and they divorced when Danjuro was eight. Fortunately, because Aomi's husband was caught in an affair and evidence was presented, she managed to win custody of their only son.
Last she heard, he ended up being scammed and up to his neck in debts, forcing him to juggle multiple jobs to afford debt payments.
"I am the God of Anti-NTR, not the God of Love, nor am I the all-cure for sour relationships," You firmly pointed out, leaving no room for argument, "If you truly wish for a stable relationship, both spouses must work towards it."
Aomi sighed in **** understanding, "I suppose... having you solve our problems right now is asking too much."
You nod in approval, then said, "Now that I've shown you everything you wanted to know, I shall reveal my plans: I plan to build a network of political allies that will bring down the blackmailing ring and its connections and then make my foray into politics to build my influence, in order to dismantle the propagation of cuckoldry and any and all who propagate it for their sick amusement."
"That's really ambitious," Shioko pointed out.
"It is," You smiled, "And it is necessary; for far too long I have slumbered, sealed by those who sought to rob the world of my influence, and now I must reassert it, so that NTR shall never again be a thing of pleasure. Those who love it are twisted in the head, and must be dealt with."
And Shioko understood one reason why you saved her; you needed her to build up your connections in the police **** and take down Tokifusa. If it were anyone else, she would likely accuse him of treating her only as a useful tool.
But to you, she felt only gratitude.
"I'll help you," Shioko said, "You helped me and Danjuro, so it's only fair."
"I want to help too," Said Aomi, "I might not be police captain, but I know more than a few officers who can help us."
"Then I shall count on you both," You said smilingly.
"What about me?" Asked Danjuro, "I want to help too."
"Danjuro!" Aomi exclaimed.
"Hm, why not just be there for your mother and Shioko?" You suggested, "They have to deal with many burdens at work, so if you can help alleviate them, that would be wonderful."
"Really? But I don't really know how to do that," Danjuro said, his enthusiasm slightly dampened.
"Well, I can give you a few pointers here and there, but for now, why not focus on just going about your daily life?" You added, "And if you truly want to help, you can start by helping your mother with the housework or helping entertain Shioko each time she visits. I'm sure there are better ways, but even as a god, I cannot just butt into private affairs like this, and it has to be you who makes the effort to help them, rather than others simply giving you advice. You understand me?"
"I don't really get it, but basically you're saying I need to step up and help where possible?" Asked Danjuro.
"That's the long and short of it, yes," You said.
"That's great," Danjuro smiled.
"But what do we do now?" Asked Shioko.
"For now, we just retire and get some sleep," You suggested, "Tomorrow, we discuss this further at Izakaya Akita."
"Sounds good to me," Shioko said, "Be seeing you."
You give your goodbyes and leave the Okano household.
The moment you return to the Tachibana household, you are greeted by Koharu who embraces you and nuzzles her cheek against yours.
"Welcome back, Yuu-kun," Koharu whispered, "I missed you."
"I wasn't gone for that long, and I was only handling some other stuff," You said, "Were you waiting for me?"
"Yes, I was! It's so unfair that Mom and Yuka get to hog you while I'm left alone drawing my manuscripts!" Koharu whined childishly, "So could I ask you for help with the storyline, please? My readers are complaining that my doujinshi are all becoming stale and bland, and it's affecting my ratings!"
"Alright, I'll help you," You reassured, "So I need you to get your materials ready and we can go through them together, alright?"
"Yay! Thank you, Yuu-kun!" Koharu jumped for joy and hugged you once again.
And she kissed you on the forehead.
"Oh, I kissed you? Sorry about that! Just give me a minute!" Koharu exclaimed, rushing away as if to hide her embarrassment.
You smile, choosing to feign ignorance as you walk into the house.
