A plain hallway

You open the door and find a small, plain hallway with a lone door on the other end. This must be what the receptionist meant when she said it'd be easy from here.

You enter the hallway, letting the door gently close behind you. It takes a moment for your eyes to adjust to the more normal lighting in this hallway, after spending so much time in the dim stairwell. The only ornaments along the walls are a set of lamps on your left, evenly spaced all the way down. Without anywhere else to turn, you begin making your way to the simple wooden door on the other side. You don't hear any sound from behind the door as you approach. You pause as you place your hand on the door handle. You've already signed the contract so you can't realistically back out, but pulling this door open still feels like another decisive moment. You know that your new "Master", as the receptionist called him, is probably on the other side, but you still don't even know anything about him.

With a deep breath, you turn the handle and pull.
