A drink and a suprising request

Blackfire pauses and takes a deep breath, apparently not sure how to continue. You sit back and let her collect her thoughts.

Just as you’re about to say something a waitress, wearing a Thrill Kill Kult t-shirt, a black and red plaid schoolgirl skirt, and fishnets comes up. “Can I get the two of you something to drink?”

“Xahala’ yes,” Blackfire says looking relieved for the distraction.

You order yourself a pop. While you want something stronger you figure that you’ve got enough explaining to do already without smelling like booze when you get back to the tower. You’re somewhat surprised when, after a quick scan of the drink menu Blackfire orders a purple nerpel.

“Coming right up,” the waitress says with an amused grin, and then to Blackfire, “love your boots by the way.”

As the waitress leaves you look at Blackfire and chuckle, “Seriously, a purple nerpel?”

“Why, is that a bad drink?” she asks perplexed by your amusement.

“No it’s not a bad drink, just kind of girly.”

“Says the guy who ordered a soft drink,” she replies defensively. “I’ll have you know that on my planet Nerples are ferocious predators”, she asserts. But her inability to meet your gaze and the fact that her face has turned a light shade of pink make you think that she is just trying to preserve her bad girl image. “Besides,” she says looking at you with a pout, “I happen to be a girl in case you hadn't noticed.”

“Oh trust me, I’ve noticed.” You say leaning a little closer to her, “I’ve also noticed that you still haven’t told me what you want.”

“What I want hmmm…” she nearly purrs, as this time her foot does slowly slide up the back of your leg and her eyes glow that dusky shade of purple again. “I’m sure there are a few things you could help me with in that department.”

Just then the waitress comes back with your drinks, and this time it’s you who’s grateful for the distraction, which gives you a minuet to clear your head. “Come on {FRIST_NAME} focus,” you think as you fight the urge to slide your hands up those long legs of hers. It takes nearly all of your willpower, but you succeed and after the waitress has left has left you manage to meet her glowing purple eyes head on.

“So, where were we?” she asks with a sly grin as she plucks a cherry from her drink and slowly swirls her tongue around it before sucking it into her mouth.

“You were telling me why you were looking to talk to the Titans.” You say keeping eye contact over the top of your glass as you take a sip, whishing again that you had ordered something stronger.

“Humph that,” she pouts for a second as the glow fades from her eyes and her grin is replaced by a look of determination. "Look I know what I'm about to say will sound crazy…"

"Crazier than me running off with you while Raven and Jinx go all Jerry Springer on each other." you quip, earning you a small smile from Blackfire.

“Yeah what’s up with that?” she asks with a smirk. “And what was that about Raven being jealous because Jinx got to kiss you?”

“I believe we’re here to find out why you were sneaking around my room, and why you want to talk to the Titans.” You say trying not to blush.

“Change the subject much?” Blackfire teases grinning like the Cheshire cat sensing your discomfort.

“Said the pot to the kettle” you reply arching an eyebrow.

"Alright, fine,” she sighs dramatically, “I ..... .... the Titans", she mumbles into her drink before taking half of it down in one gulp.

"I didn't quite catch that", you say taking a sip of your own drink.

Blackfire runs a hand through her hair and looks you dead in the eye, her earlier playfulness replaced by apprehension. "I want to join the Titans", she repeats with more conviction this time.

You manage not to **** on your drink but it is obvious that you weren't able to hide your shock as Blackfire frowns at you as she runs a finger along the edge of her glass. "Well," she asks looking at you impatiently, "how's that rank for crazy?"
