A clue

While the culprit was long gone, Max noticed something red laying on the grass in the distance. Max looked curious as she walked closer to see what it was. A beanie? Max picked it up as the others came running after. “Did you find the phone?” Chloe asked.

“No…” Max said. “But I did find this red beanie. It has SG on the tag?”

Chloe and Rachel both gasped. “Wait you know them?” Victoria asked.

Rachel rolled her eyes. “You should too, she was literally in your class. But yes, we know her. I thought she went to Colorado, but I guess she’s back in town…”

“So then you can call her, right?” Max asked.

“Well, I don’t have her number,” Rachel said.

“But I do,” Chloe said. “Alright, let’s get this over with…”

Chloe dialed Steph Gingrich’s number on her phone. “Hello? Oh, hey Chloe, what’s up?”

“Uh… hey Steph, um… you wouldn’t happen to be in Oregon again… right?” Chloe asked.

“I am… why? Missing something?” Steph asked.

Chloe blushed. “Uh… you could say that,” Chloe said.

“Tell you what, how about you four meet me at the lighthouse in your current attire. I have someone I want you to meet anyways. I’ll be waiting with… something for each of you to wear,” Steph said. “Oh also… bring my beanie. I think I dropped it and well… you know how much those mean to me.”

With that, Steph hung up. Chloe grumbled. “I got good news and bad news…”
