A beast

Both of them felt a lack of surprise as a giant creature emerged.

It seemed almost like a gorilla but with the scales of a reptile.

It wasn't a good combo for them to deal with, but they'd dealt with worse in their respective careers, so they'd figure this one out, or at least, that was the hope, after all they had no clue what this thing was capable of.

Neither of them could afford to underestimate it.

They'd both learned that lesson the hard way over the years.

Naturally, that meant they quickly avoided it when it started bellowing fire at them.

"What do you think: new type of animal or some weird experiment gone wrong?" Gambit asked, as he ducked the lunging monster.

"Who knows, the important thing is we gotta deal with this fucker!!" Black Cat exclaimed.

She knew this thing was going to be incredible dangerous and they had to stop it quickly.

Neither of them knew what it was capable of, so they had to play it smart and give it room.

Of course, being thieves as talented as they were, smartness tended to give way to flashiness.

And, their attraction to each other also gave their interactions a flirtatious edge to them, which could also be a very distracting thing.

The upside was that it also gave them some more adrenaline to burn off later.

"Check dis out!" Remy exclaimed, before he leapt on the monsters back and began to pretend to ride it.

Felicia was deeply amused.

Remy was a guy who loved showing off, something that Felicia appreciated.

She loved his sense of humor.

It also didn't go unnoticed that he was also pissing the monster off big time.

Which distracted the monster and freed Felicia up to figure out her next move.

Time and again, the monster would rush at Remy, who would move out of the way at just the last minute, further angering the monster.

He was putting on quite the show for Felicia, who was enjoying it.

If the monster had been a little smarter, it would have noticed that Felicia was positioning herself for something.

After a few more moments of Remy having fun, Felicia decided that it was time to get involved.

She threw a rock at the monster that was big enough to catch it's attention and it immediately turned and rushed at her.

Unfortunately for the monster, she, much like Remy, was incredibly agile and she leapt over it, kicking it a kick to the back as she did.

By pure luck, that kick sent the monster head first into a tree at just the right angle for tree to collapse, hitting the beast right in it's weakest spot, killing it instantly.

Much to both of their surprise, a small thing fell out of the beast.

It looked almost like a chain, with a collar attached to it.

They both gave each other a confused look.

"I'm guessing that might be the next thing?" Remy asked, looking at Felicia, who confirmed his suspicions.

"I've seen almost all of the set and that's a part of it." She declared as she reached down and picked it up.

"So, I'm guessing this thing was a guardian, designed to keep this piece out of people's hands." Remy said, with Felicia nodding.

Neither of them knew how or why that thing had the piece, give how dangerous it was, someone clearly didn't want this falling into someone else's hands, so much so that they were swilling to but neither of them worried about that at the moment.

With that done, they took off for Remy's apartment, both of them eager for the next payment.

They were both certain it was gonna be just as awesome as the last one.
