A Serum?

His dad had created a special serum

Jack flipped open the cardboard flaps to the box, revealing a multitude of items within. There was everything from an old journal, to collection lab equitment and containers of exotic plants and chemicals. Jack was now intrigued more than ever as to what his father had been working on, that was so important to pass down to him of all people. Deciding not to spend much more time in the dusty attic he took the box back to his room and closed up the attic hatch as though he had never been there.

Once back in his room Jack decided that the best course of action was to start reading through his dads old journal, and as such he spent the rest of the day pouring over page after page of notes, diagrams, equations, and journal entries, and by the end of it Jack was starting to get a pretty good idea what his father had been working on.

He summarizes that the company his dad worked for, Chamberlain Labs, were developing all sorts of tech products but had specifically tasked his dads team to develop a new treatment for hormone therapy in humans. They had ended up developing a serum that would be injected into specific regions of a subjects body, specifically altering them to the peak of physical capability and size, but had also discovered the serum had intriguing effects on the subjects mind.

Jack was stunned to find that this technology even existed and that his father of all people had been working on it. The thought of change peoples appearance let alone there mental state into what ever form directed almost seemed dystopian, straight out of some a shitty cyberpunk novel or movie. But at the same time jacks mind wandered to the more hormone driven aspect of his mind, thinking of what changes he could preform on himself let alone someone he desired., with the ability to shape to his will an individual of his choosing making them the perfect man, woman or child.

suddenly jack was shaken out of his reading and mental contemplation when there was a knock at his door. "Jack honey, dinner is ready!" said his mom cheerfully.

He looked over to the alarm clock on his night stand seeing that the day had flung past him and it was already 6pm. Not wanting to upset his mother as he did in the morning, he hastily pushed the box and its contents into his closet and ran down the stairs to have dinner. At the dinning room table sat his sister, still on her phone as before, and his mother setting the food out on the table, still wearing here business clothes minus the blazer. Jack sat down at the table taking his portion of the food and began to to eat.

"so... got any plans for the summer young man?" asked his mother, prodding him for an answer as they had there meal.

"I was planning on taking a bit of break before I got around to anything" Jack responded before taking another bit of food, while his sister rolled her eyes at his response.

"well... this is your last summer before college, wouldn't you want to pick up a job, or do something more productive" responded his mother trying to get him to come up with a better answer and off his ass. "I bet you I could find a position at my office, or reach out to my friend Sarah at the bakery, she's looking for help", his mother again trying to get him to break out of his comfort zone.

As his mother kept prodding him and producing more and more suggestions of where to get a job, he being to think back to his discovery today. But the gears started to turn in his head about the amount of time it would take to get the machine up and running, where would he put, what would he do with it., where would he get parts for it. But suddenly some of his questions were answered when his mother said, "Ya know, Ms. Smith asked about getting you to work at her pharmaceutical lab as an intern this summer", and with that he realized what he was going to do this summer.

"Maybe I will reach out to her, and ask her mom" Jack immediately responded as the gears in his head turned in motion formulating his plan to us Ms. Smiths work to develop his serum, while also making some cash along with it.

With that the last person in the town of Fairview had finally decided what their plans for summer were, and as such the sun set on the small quite town.
