A Semester at Sea

You decide the best thing to do with demons stalking people is to spend a little time at sea. Of course it doesn’t hurt that Clara, the TA, is your friend with benefits.

Competition for the course is heavy and you wonder if you won entirely by your own merits.

As the date gets close, you begin packing. You are nearly done with the duffel when Lily, your goth neighbor pokes her head in.

“You packing to leave?”

“Yeah, figured it was a good time.”

“Want to come with me to Vegas?”

You pause. Traveling cross country with a hot goth girl does have its appeal, but you don’t really know her that well. And, the destination troubles you. You are trying to stay away from demons.

“Thanks for the offer, but I’m doing a semester at sea.”

“Oceanography?”

“Yes. Good luck in Vegas.”

“And you, stay safe out there.”

She walks toward her room and you head for the rendezvous at the port.
