Brandon had overheard the conversation between his three colleagues and it had reminded him of something. Something about pregnancy. Suddenly in a flash of recollection he reached into his pocket and pulled out the “Pass” he had been given an hour before at the Rear Entrance of the Mall.

The card was thickly laminated. The plastic felt expensive. It was professionally done with a little multi-coloured hologram in the top right-hand corner like those on credit cards.

Printed in big letters across the front it said 'Breeding Pass'. Yes, that was right. The guy in the Hoodie had said “Breeding Pass.”

But what the fuck was a Breeding Pass?

Brandon peered carefully at this odd card. Breeding? What could it be promoting? A pet store or a gardening centre maybe? It couldn’t be farming surely; Sunny Day Mall was a long way from any agricultural land. Brandon carefully read the small print on the back of the card.

'In association with the Sunny Day Mall this card heartily authorizes the holder to demand one sexual act of intercourse from any member of the opposite sex with the stated intent to impregnate or be impregnated by said partner. All participants must be over the age of eighteen. Only valid at the Sunny Day Mall. Issuer is not responsible for any consequences that ensue from use of said Pass. All pregnancies must be brought to term.'

Brandon could only stare at the card unsure of what it actually meant. He understood the words of course but what business was the card promoting? A new sex store maybe.

“What’s that?” asked Aina sweetly, noticing that her friend was unusually engrossed in a small business card.
