Chapter 7 by Doobler Doobler

Which Card does he get?

“Pot of Greed”

A quick google search listed a ton of potential choices, but if this was magic then he’d want something that didn’t draw attention to himself. Something that wouldn’t blow up a building when he used it.

And amazingly, he knew of a card that should work. Maybe. He knew it was a simple card that anyone could understand how to use based on its simple card text.

Pot of Greed: “Draw 2 cards.”

“I dunno how that’ll translate to real magic, but it has to be good, right?” he thought, as the text on his Switch’s screen filled in automatically. And with bated breath, he OKed the transfer.

Once he pressed the button, every single card in his game’s collection disappeared except for the Sky Striker and Dragonmaid cards. And the cards Erica recommended he make.

Then a piece of cardstock fell on his head.

“Huh? R-Really…?” he wondered, as he saw the card that his ability ostensibly made from useless trash. It looked like the image from all the memes, not shiny though. He remembered the term was “common”, but hopefully that didn’t change anything about how it worked.

Then he read it closer, and saw that the segment that other cards labeled “Spell Card” was instead named “Magic Card”.

His eyes widened. He had just received a “Real Magic Card”. “You… you’ve got to be kidding me…!” Leonard began to shriek, as his odd ability seemed more and more unfair each time he used it. “Just… work, you stupid thing!” he shouted, as he threw the card onto the carpeted floor.

Once he noticed how heavy his breathing had gotten, the short man closed his eyes and tried to take a deep breath. One he held in until his heartbeat stopped thrumming from within his ears.

By the time he opened his eyes, he already felt a lot calmer. And then he noticed a head-sized green jar on his floor.

He stumbled back, dropping back on the couch. “That’s… the Pot. It… it worked…? It’s real?” he thought as he examined it closely. It seemed accurate enough, based on the physical card the man had quickly picked back up.

“So… the card lets me draw two more cards. What does that mean in real life…? I don’t have anything else in my ‘deck’…” Leonard muttered, trying to figure this out before his new roommate came back.

He picked it up, turned it upside down, put an ear against it, even rubbed it in case it worked like a genie lamp, but nothing worked. Leonard was at a loss. He had seen the anime as a kid, but no one used Pot of Greed’s hologram as part of the effect. The main thing he remembered was how it exploded after the two cards were drawn, if it even physically appeared at all.

A hand on his chin, the befuddled man muttered “Maybe… do I just… reach in… and pull them out…?”

Does he get to reach inside the Pot?
