Mental Modifications

Training can only get you so far huh? Luckily for Character owners everywhere, there exist numerous ways to control the minds of your possessions. Techniques come and go every year, and cutting edge technologies are constantly on the horizon, currently however there exist a few tried and true methods to change a characters thoughts and behaviours by ****.

Method 1. Chipping.

“Chipping” is arguably the most popular and cost effective method of mind control. it involves surgically implanting a microchip into a strategic location of a characters brain. These microchips come in many shapes, sizes and functions, and will simply block undesired brain signals sent to the body, replacing them instead with programmable behaviours or sensations. Chipping does not fundamentally change a characters thoughts or emotions, effectively making the character a prisoner in their own mind when a chip is giving a command.

The benefit of using a microchip is their relatively low cost and temporary nature, with some models even being capable of being turned on and off by command. Chipping can be reversed by simply removing the microchip, and it’s a great way to maintain a characters retail value.

There are a few downsides of chipping, firstly being the negative effects that can sometimes be inflicted upon a characters mental state while their bodies are controlled against their will. Another negative is their inefficiency. As the desired changes to a characters mind becomes more complex, the number of chips required to accomplish such changes can become inadvisable, as if too many chips interact with each other (generally 6+) it can cause unforeseen side effects.

Method 2. Brainwashing.

Brainwashing is an umbrella term encompassing a number of techniques to alter a characters mind. Generally, brainwashing is achieved with specific sensory based therapies. These therapies can be subliminal messaging, sensory deprivation or overstimulation, some have even found success in dream therapy, using specialized devices to implant suggestions into a character while they sleep.

The main positive of brainwashing is it’s subtly, With some techniques being most effective when the character is unaware it’s happening at all. Other more brute **** methods are still useful for owners that want a “softer” more noninvasive method of modification.

A significant downside of brainwashing is time. Depending on the character it is attempted on, brainwashing can take between a couple days to a few months to accomplish. Another downside is the specialized talents required in the person attempting to brainwash a character, with very few recognized specialists in the world, it’s often performed by amateurs to negative effect.

Method 3. Neural Repathing.

Neural repathing is, on a technical level, the most complex form of mental modification. Using specialized machinery a trained technician can use this technique to physically alter the the thought patterns of a character in a near infinite number of ways.

The obvious positive of Neural Repathing is it’s sheer versatility, with a repathing machine a characters mind can be altered in practically any number of ways to precise, predictable effects.

The negative of neural repathing owners are usually most concerned about is it’s price. Depending on the extent of the changes desired, Neural Repathing can occasionally cost nearly as much as the characters original sell value. The other main downside of Neural Repathing is it’s permanence. When repathing is complete it’s effectively impossible to return a characters brain to its pre modified state.
