[Author's Notes]

This is my headcanon for the Forgotten Realms universe. You do not have to read it to understand anything that is going on in Malediction, it is just there for the nerds like me who love the Forgotten Realms setting and the Dungeons & Dragons universe!

That said, I try to adhere to canon as closely as possible, though I do and will take deviations to make a more realistic/grounded approach to Forgotten Realms. I have always loved the Drow, but their rampant murderhobo-ism of each other would not be sustainable even with their enhanced-for-an-elf birthrates. They still are tricky bastards, but in a more evenhanded and thought out way. A sizable portion of these pages have nothing overtly to do with Malediction, but nonetheless have trickle down effects for everyone in the interconnected world that is Toril.

As a historian and amateur economist, I love breathing fresh life into fictional universes be they fantasy or sci-fi. The nitty gritty statistics, cultural mores, and sociological impacts that are often ignored by authors are my favourite things to expand upon. Not everything I have chosen to change will be reacted to positively, but that is okay! This is just a silly fanfiction that I hope some of you will enjoy at the end of the day.
