Chapter 11

What's next?
Aphrodite v Hades
{if Court round == 1}
You see a tall woman walk in, her bright red toga having rose petals fall off of it onto the ground behind her. "APHRODITE, please keep your glamour effects under control lest I do so for you!" "But Persephone gets her petals!" "And that is not a glamour effect, and you know it perfectly well. I will have order in my court." "Oh come now, can't we make an exception for a titan such as myself?" "No exceptions, you know perfectly well that pulling rank won't work on me, cousin. Or need I remind you that you are the youngest titan?" Aphrodite turns off the glamour effect, rose petals no longer coming off her dress, a little pout on her lips. The judge simply points to the prosecutor's seat, and Aphrodite takes her seat, dramatically flopping down.
Hades simply sighs at the sight of the Lady of Passion, clearly not the happiest at who you pursued over him. The judge speaks up, Aphrodite having been silent for the short stint necessary. "Today's case is on the matter of who this cleric next to me is truly dedicated to, as evidence has been brought forth by the prosecution as to question their loyalties to the defense. The prosecution will be the chaotic Aphrodite and the defense will be the melancholic Hades." Aphrodite looks annoyed at the statement, whereas Hades simply raises his eyebrow.
"Per agreements dating back millenia between the two here today, this trial will occur over the course of five rounds. The first will be on the matter of kingship, the second on the matter of methodology, the third on the matter of fidelity, the fourth on the matter of mastery, and the fifth on the matter of the self." After a short pause, she continues, "let the trial begin." You feel yourself subjected to a truth spell, and find yourself unable to resist its effects. Whatever you state, it must be the truth.
Aphrodite stands up, and makes her way over to you. "Suppose there were three brothers, all of whom desired to be king. All had equal claim on the basis of deeds; however the youngest brother had amassed a cult following through deceit and ****. The youngest brother suggests that the three should cast lots to see who becomes king, and the middle brother agrees, not really wishing to fight. Would would you advise the eldest brother to do? Would you suggest he accept the whims of chance, despite the knowledge that his brother may have rigged the lots, or would you suggest he find a way to undermine his brother's rule?"
{elseif Court round == 2}
Aphrodite sways her way back to her seat, at which point the judge states, "that concludes round one. You may proceed with round two, Hades." Hades stands up, and approaches you. "Cecillia, you know that I dislike deceit and trickery, for attempts to use such merely undermine your own word, and increase the chance of compromising on your morals later. Is there a reasonably likely scenario in which such deceit is necessary? Understand that I do not speak of subterfuge, as that largely has its own set of rules and fall under its own mores. Only state yes if you can identify such a scenario, and not if you think that there's a scenario that could exist - after all, reality often defies theory."
{elseif Court round == 3}
Hades proceeds to his seat. "That concludes round two." {if Defense points > 1}Aphrodite stands, and as she makes her way towards you, she shrugs her shoulders and lets her toga slowly slide down her body, revealing her flared form beneath it. "Just a little taste of what you'll be missing if you don't fulfill your pursuit of me," she says as she makes it to the witness stand, her large breasts resting in front of you. {else}Aphrodite starts walking towards the witness stand, and begins talking. {endif}"Cecillia, sometimes we agree to things even what are largely considered major things; yet our ideals cause us to go against what is socially acceptable on this matter." "Objection, misleading portrayal of the scenario," Hades interjects. "Sustained; Aphrodite, please frame the scenario in such a way so as not to obfuscate the actuality of the ideal on trial." Her lips form a slight pout, but then she sighs. "Very well. Cecillia, suppose that there was something you had agreed to, but you greatly desire something else. Is it acceptable to violate the agreement in order to fulfill your being, such as you see it?"
{elseif Court round == 4}
Aphrodite proceeds back to her seat, hips swaying. "That concludes round three. Hades, please take the floor for round four." Hades stands, and approaches. "Suppose you are assigned an unpleasant task. Is it not better to apply yourself and become a master at it, so as to free time for other pursuits?"
{elseif Court round == 5}
Upon hearing your answer, Hades returns to his seat. "That concludes round four. Aphrodite, please finish this quickly." Aphrodite smiles and sways back to the witness stand, standing about three feet from it, allowing you to see down to her hip. "Cecillia, our time here is almost over{if Prosecution points = 2}, and if you wish it to continue, the only way to do so is to answer this last question in a way that draws you into my protection{endif}. Do you believe that your own self should come before others? After all, if you can't help yourself, how then are you going to be able to help others?"
{elseif Court round == 6}
"And that concludes the case of Aphrodite v Hades in the matter of the cleric to my left."{if Prosecution points > 2} "I judge Aphrodite to have won this case. {if Prosecution points > 4}However, due to the cleric in question's total betrayal of Hades, they are ordered to forfeit all gifts Hades gave her on initial dedication.{elseif Prosecution points > 3}However, her new cleric is ordered to forfeit the spell Hades granted her on initial dedication.{else}However, due to her still partial loyalty to Hades, she may keep the spell Hades initially granted her, although he may reclaim the boons of ability he granted her on initial dedication.{endif}{else} "I judge Hades to have won this case. Aphrodite is ordered to surrender all current claim to his cleric.{endif} All parties may return at once." And with that, she returns to weaving. Both Hades and Aphrodite vanish from the court, although you feel that things have changed surrounding you.
{else}
Apologies, but these chapters only work well in game mode - too much chapter bloat if I separate it into the five rounds and aftermath.
However, below is a teaser taken from somewhere in the trial:
"That concludes round two." Aphrodite stands, and as she makes her way towards you, she shrugs her shoulders and lets her toga slowly slide down her body, revealing her flared form beneath it. "Just a little taste of what you'll be missing if you don't fulfill your pursuit of me," she says as she makes it to the witness stand, her large breasts resting in front of you.
{endif}
What's next?
- "He should accept his lot; resistance's sacrifice is far too great"
- "He should undermine his brother; it is clear that something is off"
- "Yes"
- "No"
- "Yes"
- "No"
- "I suppose that is for the best"
- "Why yourself to be miserable simply to enjoy a few minutes of respite?"
- "Yes, you can't love others if you can't love yourself first"
- "How will I be able to live with myself if I don't help others first?"
- You find yourself back in the Temple of the Gods
- You find yourself back in the Temple of the Gods
- You find yourself back in the Temple of the Gods
