Chapter 7 by John Breedy John Breedy

Who else is there in the market?

"Weired" Melon guy

Sarah squeezed the melon and shook it. She thumped it with her finger nail and then sighed out loud. “How the Hell do you really know when the damned things are ripe?” she muttered to herself.

"Scratch the spot where the stem was and sniff it,” the male voice said.

Sarah turned around to see who was speaking to her. He was tall, a little over six feet she guessed, and was wearing jeans and a faded T-shirt with a picture of some random gravity on it. “Do you work here?” she asked the stranger. She had to look up, since she only stood a little over five feet tall, even with her two inch pumps.

He smiled down at her. “No, ma’am.” he answered easily. “I just know melons. And I know when they're ripe and delicious," he said with a sly grin. He took the one she was holding and scratched at it, holding it up to his nose and shook his head. “Smell that,” he handed it back to her and reached into the bin for another. While she sniffed the first melon, he scratched the new one and smiled. “That’s better.” He handed Sarah this one and took back the first, tossing it back with the others. “See the difference?” he looked at her expectantly.

How does Sarah continue this conversation?
