"No, not at all."

"No, not at all," you say. Kat replies by rolling over and laying face down on the bed and giving a loud groan.

Kat and you sit in silence for a long long moment. Then she mumbles something under her breath.

"Sorry," you say leaning in, "what?"

"Elaborate." States Kat, turning her head to the side so she isn't muffled anymore.

"Oh," you begin, "well I think that it isn't all that weird at all that you'd get excited about that kind of thing."

"Even if this has never happened to me before?" Kat asks.

"Well," you shrug, "Maybe the fact that Marcy isn't cagy about it either and told you everything has something to do with it."

"Sure." She sighs. "That unfortunately makes sense."

"Oh?" You ask.

"Well I never dated anybody, and until literally yesterday I didn't know anything outside of a biology text about doing it, so yeah, maybe hearing so much about it in such a short time piqued my interest." Replies Kat.

"And I'm just here to say that you don't need to beat yourself up about feeling that way." You say, trying to sound indifferent about this new morsel of information. "You're only human."

"Unfortunately." Grumbles Kat, sitting up.

"Oh are we back to you wanting to be Vulcan are we?" You laugh.

"I mean I still try to be as rational as possible in my daily life," Kat grins, moving her hair from her face. "So can I really say that I ever stopped?"

"You are such a nerd." You laugh.

"Those are bold words coming from you." Kat shoots back.

"Anyways, did that make you feel any better?" You ask.

"Eh." Kat sighs. "Stay tuned."

"Ok." You reply.

"But I'd also ask that you give Marcy a wide berth for a while." Kat says.

"Oh?" You ask. "Why's that?"

"I need some time to get used to the idea of you two hooking up still." She groans.

"Hooking up?" You ask, eyebrows furrowing.

"Oh yeah," chuckles Kat, "Marcy seems to be very emphatic about making it a regular thing, so that's something you need to be ready for."

"Huh." You state, grin growing on your face.

"I would rather you didn't but―" She sighs and shrugs. "I don't exactly see how I can stop a pair of horndogs like you from bumping uglies. But can I ask you something?"

"Sure." You answer. Kat sits up, looking you dead in the eyes. She pushes a wayward strand of hair behind her ear.

"It's getting late, but I still want to talk more about this." Kat says, deathly serious. "And you better not speak a word of this to Marcy or Lou or anybody."

"My lips are sealed." You reply.

"Pinky promise?" Kat asks, proffering out her pinky finger.

"Yeah, I promise." You chuckle. "So do you wanna come over another day and we can continue our conversation then?" You suggest.

"Yeah, you promise?" Kat replies, standing up from your bed and stretching her long willowy frame.

"Yes," you chuckle, "I promise."

"I'm holding you to that then." Kat states, brows furrowed, picking up her stuff in the living room and kitchen. You walk her to the door, and as she steps out the door she turns to face you. "Night John." She says.

"Night Kat." You answer, and she is off down the stairs and into the darkness of the night.
