Chapter 12

What will 'Twinkledinkle' answer?

"Look Again..."

The "Pixie" flapped "his" wings as Lilly heard the "response".

"'Look again'...?" Lilly asked as she looked back to through the window.

Inside the cabin, Maria Adkins was angrily pacing behind her desk, still covered in soap suds but now having her towel wrapped around her. On the other side of the desk, Ms. Samantha Evans was nervously standing at attention.

"L-let me just ask you something, Samantha." Ms. Adkins began, coming to a stop as she glared into Ms. Evan's eyes. "Do you hate me? Do you have a grudge against me? Was this because I called you senile after your little stunt with the stew?"

"In my def-"

"I DON'T -" Maria began, pausing as she took a deep breath. "I don't want to hear this stupid fairy tale of yours anymore, Evans. Let me ask you something else. Do you know why, despite everything you have blamed on this hallucination, I have kept you on our payroll?"

"Well, the thought has crossed my mind a few times..." Samantha thought out loud, more to herself than responding to Maria.

"It's because I promised my mother, on her **** bed, that I would keep her best and most loyal employee around until the day she retired." Maria explained, "And I remember all the summers I attended this camp, those claims did add up. However, ever since last summer, I'm beginning to wonder if that was a promise I should have kept."

Lilly gasped quietly, the butterfly flying away.

"Please, Maria!" Ms. Evans pleaded, "I know how this looks, and I promise, none of this well ever happen again! I need this job! The only other job I can get at my age is as a greeter at Walmart, and I've heard the horror stories from my cousin."

Maria took a deep breath, closing her eyes. "Okay." She said after several seconds, opening her eyes, "Against my better judgement, I will give you another chance."

"You will?!" Ms. Evans asked excitedly, "Oh, thank you, Maria! Thank you so - "

"BUT!" Maria interrupted, "I want to make it known that this is your last chance. We have The Camp Director visiting tomorrow for inspection, and everything must be perfect. Against, my better judgement, I am putting you in charge supervising of all the Junior Councilors and their activities on that day as she'll be doing an evaluation on them; especially since one of those eighteen year olds we hired is her daughter. So if I get back even one report of something going wrong on your watch, and you blaming your little imaginary friend, you are out on your ear! Do I make myself crystal clear?"

"Y-yes, Ma'am!" Ms. Evans said with a salute.

"And stop saluting me. What? Was your mother in the army, or something?"

"Navy, actually. One of the first woman members in her -"

"I get it." Maria said with an annoyed sigh as she walked towards the door to her cabin. "Now, if you don't mind, I'm going to go back to the showers and rinse off this soap. I'm starting to get a rash."

Lilly ducked into the bushes as Ms. Adkins and Ms. Evans left the cabin. Once the two women were gone, the naked woman poked her head out as a pink butterfly and a blue butterfly landed on her head, a gasp escaping her lips.

"Pinkywink McStuffledoo! Jeff!" She whispered excitedly to the "fairies", "That's how I'll make it up for almost getting Evans fired! I'll follow her around tomorrow and help her make sure everything goes right!"

The blue butterfly flapped its wings as Lilly giggled in response. "Well of course I'm gonna prank The Camp Director, Jeff." She replied to the "Pixie's question", "I'm just gonna make sure that Evans isn't around to blame for it."

With that, the naked woman frolicked back into the forest, giggling and giddy with excitement for tomorrow.
